ok. This is my first time ever hearing of this band. Live and learn, right?
Thanks, Paul 🙂
OMG – only just seen this – fabulous, thank you so much Paul.
My favorite song of Arcadia!!!
Thank you so much Paul!!
Best wishes from Argentina,
Gonzalo
i just love it when the community here just gushes over favorite artists and/or 12-inch mixes. It makes me all so enthusiastic for what I’m about to hear. I know I’m a johnny-come-lately when it comes to Arcadia. From all I hear, they are phenomenal and I wish I got into them when they first came out. I’m just happy that through you Paul, I’m getting to hear these glorious twelves in stellar quality. I so need to find that three-disc collection so I can revel in the artistry of the band.
Many, many, many thanks!!!!!
Jeff
FAAAAAAAANTASTIC POST, Paul. Gosh, as you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE Arcadia. So sophisticated, such brilliant production, great songs. I wished there were a couple of further albums, but no… I love everything about So Red The Rose from a to z. I have the three-disc collector´s edition, of course (next to the original vinyl album, 12-inches and the original cd from back then). This 12-inch is missing from my collection but, hey, one day….. Gee, now I have to watch the funny “The Flame” video and then listen to my favourite Arcadia track, “The Promise”. I LOVE Sting´s backing… Read more »
“Goodbye Is Forever” is a fantastic track, that should’ve been a bigger hit. “So Red The Rose” was a masterpiece with cameos from Sting, Grace Jones and Dave Gilmour. I was always hoping for a 2nd album from Arcadia, even though “Lady Xanax” from Duran Duran’s Pop Trash had a similar style. Excellent post Paul, Have you got blur – To The End (12″) 7243 8 81429 6 0. It has the folllowing tracks: A1 To The End (Edit) A2 Girls & Boys (Pet Shop Boys 7″ Remix) B Girls & Boys (Pet Shop Boys 12″ Remix) By the way blur’s guitarist Graham Coxon willl… Read more »
There is pop music that is fun, cheap and throwaway… yet Arcadia are sophisticated, very expensive and pure quality! Nick has said this was the longest they have ever spent making an album and the most expensive album the Duran members have ever made! Nick has also said he would like to revisit Arcadia one day, for a super deluxe, because there is a mountain of unreleased material! I hope one day we get to hear that!
Hi Paul, Thanks for posting this track. Arcadia, for those that didn’t know were a short lived side project from simon leon, and nick rhodes. They were very artsy, and you can tell very fashionable from their outfits and graphics. They had a few singles, and very moderately successful compared to power station, which had other members of duran duran. I liked the song ‘the promise’ from the album, and the 12 inch also, as my favorite. This song wasn’t bad, and I wish the american releases had a picture sleeve for this. So i’ll have to get the japanese… Read more »
Roger Taylor was also part of the group he is pictured on the sleeve and given song writing credits .
Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
