Agnetha Fältskog – I Won’t Let You Go (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“I Won’t Let You Go” is the first single from Agnetha Fältskog’s second English solo-album Eyes of a Woman. The song was composed by Fältskog with lyrics by producer Eric Stewart, formerly of the group 10cc.

The track reached the Top 10 in Sweden and Belgium, but due to the lack of promotion, “I Won’t Let You Go” proved unsuccessful in Britain, where it peaked at #84.

The B-side of the single, “You’re There”, was also written by Fältskog and was the last song written by her to be released until the song, “I Keep Them On The Floor Beside My Bed” which was the closing track on her 2013 album, A.

Thank you so much for this! I cannot express how remarkable this sounds compared to the remastered CD of “Eyes of a Woman”. If you’re ever able to get your hands on Agnetha’s non-album single, “It’s So Nice to Be Rich”, that would be fantastic because it sounds horrible on the remastered “Wrap Your Arms Around Me” album.

This was a great song to come home to Paul from North Carolina. I’m finally getting a chance to hear all the great music you’ve posted. Again, intense thank yous for the Mega-mix, yours and Rhythm Stick’s, and that John Robie mixed Carol Jiani track. Robie does crazy things when he handles production work. Thanks for all you do Paul.

I am having the same problem with both rars of the flac. It says the file is damaged when I try to open it in Stuffit Expander on my mac. I have never had a problem before. I went back and downloaded an older remix (Bananarama) from last year and it downloaded and decompressed just fine. Did you change something with your compression/encrypting?

I still think her 1986 7” single with Ola Hakansson from Secret Service to promote Sweden’s Olympic Games 1992 with The Way You Are / Fly Like The Eagle is a fantastic single and the best one she released. Alexander Bard from Bodies Without Organs and Army of Lovers fame is one of the writers of these 2 songs with Ola & Tim Norell also from Secret Service fame!!

Thanks for this, Paul. I’ve just finished reading the new edition of Liam Newton’s book on 10cc and was interested to hear of Eric Stewart’s involvement. Cheers. David

Thank you very much Paul. This is a remix by sound enginer Michael B Tretow. Follow up was a promo-maxi for “One Way Love” by Joseph Watt (Razormaid!). A lot AGNETHA FÄLTSKOG cuts are still unreleased on CD : “Can’t Shake Loose” by Rob Freeman + “The Way You Are” extended (longer than the extended on CD) + “Let It Shine” Johan Ekelund (X3) + “I Wasn’t The One” english & spanish extended + “La Ultima Vez” + “Fly Like The Eagle” (CD release is made from vinyl). + The other ABBA voice FRIDA : “As Long As I Have… Read more »

Oh yes, I remember that one quite well as it was her second biggest hit in Germany, trailing only “The heat is on” from June 1983. It´s a fun song with a catchy chorus. It received quite some airplay over here. The b-side is new to me and I love it. It´s just too short 😉

Thank you, Paul. This lifts my mood after those horrible pictures earlier this week.
