Supojchai, it may be more popular where you are but probably nowhere else in the World. Must admit i do love ‘Playboy’. I love the whole ‘Strip’ album. ‘Strip’ is another great song it stalled at number 41 here in the U.K. 1 place from the all-important (back then) top 40. Some twat at the BBC banned it i think because of its suggestive lyrics lol! There’s no Playboy extended mix that i’m aware of would love it if there was. It wasn’t included in the 2007 (ish) remaster which had many fantastic bonus tracks but there again there were… Read more »

actually I forgot Rob tackled ‘Antmusic’ already – I was thinking it was appropriate given that he has been dogged with being ‘too fey, too cheeky, too Brit’ to break America for so long, it’d be a great way for him to have the last laugh –

And thanks for letting me/us know about Adam’s US tour this fall – can’t wait!!!

Indeed it was on ‘B side babies’ which i also have but it’s as you say only the 7″ version. ‘Kiss the drummer’, like most of Adam’s B’s is really good. Love the idea of Robbie Williams covering ‘Puss’! I take it that you know he did a version of ‘Antmusic’ as a B side? I’m guessing this is what gave you the idea

Thank you for this upload. ‘Puss n Boots’ is about ‘Koo Stark’ who had a relationship with Prince Andrew in the early 80’s. I have the B-side on Adam Ant’s ‘B-Side Baby’s CD’, but not the extended version.

Jah love you my brother – this is my fave Adam solo single, and it is a brilliant/insane/colossal train wreck of perfect pop – the cheekiness of the lyrics (‘and now I’m Queen?’), the unmistakable Phil Collins drum sound, the pure sex swagger – it’s tops. And the mice all call him pussy, I bet

On a related note, what a fine cover choice for Robbie Williams if he was game…..

Wow… never knew the Phil Collins connection on this.

Makes the b-side even funnier. 🙂

Thanks!

I thought you’d posted this before! Obviously not. Excellent. More Adam please! And by the way i’ve met Adam in the street twice last year and know a lot about him. Don’t count your chickens USA regarding tour. It’s already been postponed from February. His new album, ‘Adam Ant is the Blueback Hussar in marrying the gunnar’s daughter’ was due in 2010 then 2011 and then January 2012. Now there is no release date for sure! If he does ever tour the states again, DO NOT MISS HIM. He is amazing live i’ve seen him loads in 2010/2011 and will… Read more »

Nice post here, Paul! I had always wanted to get this 12’er…BTW, saw Adam Ant on his ‘Friend Or Foe’ tour back in the Winter/Spring of ’82/’83. Looking forward to the late 2012 tour! Thanks again!

I bought this 12″ at a sale in London back in the 90s! Was so excited to see it because it’s my 2nd favourite solo single from Adam after Goody Two Shoes.
Was hoping you might do this after your Strip post…Thanks Paul!
Phil Collins was surely the busy man during that period…first producing Frida, and then Adam…and also his Hello I Must Be Going project

I didn’t know that an extended version existed for “Puss ‘N Boots” (or the b-side, for that matter). I must have overlooked it! Thank you for the post, Paul!

The other track “Playboy” from the same LP, is more popular than this single, as it hits number 1 in Thailand. Wonder whether there’s is a extended version of Playboy.

Playboy was released as single. Big collector for years never heard of this being released as a single
