“Everything She Wants” is a million-selling Gold-certified hit by British pop duo Wham!, originally released in 1984 on Epic Records. The song was the forth single taken from the duo’s second album Make It Big.

“Everything She Wants” is written from the angle of a man rapidly approaching desperation at the material demands of his partner which seems to be coming to a head, despite the amount of work he does to keep her happy. In a twist, the second verse takes the story a step further by revealing that the woman is pregnant but the man cannot find any happiness in the announcement because of the extra pressure a baby will put upon him.

Although George Michael bemoaned much of Wham!’s material as he began his solo career, “Everything She Wants” remained a song of which he was proud, and he continued to perform it in his shows. Furthermore, Michael remarked in an interview (to promote 25 Live tour) that “Everything She Wants” is his favourite Wham! song.

In the UK “Everything She Wants” peaked at #2 while in the US the topped the Billboard Hot 100 peaking at #1.

Of note the sleeve on this Japanese pressing says that the b-side is “Last Christmas” this information is incorrect. The b-side is actually the album track “Like A Baby”.

Thank you Paul for posting quality vinyl rips of Wham! songs and rarities! Maybe next you could do a George Michael series starting with the Shep Pettibone mix of “Hard Day”.

I think this sort of signals the end of Wham!, even though George did release two more singles with the duo.
He realised that he can’t break out and do more mature credible material if he is still part of Wham! And that is one main reason why we had their Final the following year.
Sob!
Still, this is indeed one of the best from Wham! The entire song, production, remix and vocal delivery create such an effortlessly hypnotizing single.
Thanks Paul!

You’re just right DJPaulT, was not released as a single, not even on a B side, in my opinion it was underated. In my old brain cells, I tought it exist a maxi single, maybe because I overplayed the “Make it Big” LP and this hit was as a “must hear” from the album. Although I heard “heartbeat” on the radio more than once here in my country. Anyway, thanks for the info. You’re an authority on your field.

This is by far my most favorite Wham! single, but I only like the remixed version, not the (dull) album cut. We don’t really know who did the remix, do we?

Looking forward to the closing ‘I’m Your Man’ ceremonies. Kudos for this excellent series, Paul. You did an amazing job and it was great great fun going through the Wham! singles like this. Hopefully you’ll do more series in the near future (a string of 12 inches by the SOS Band would really be something to die for).

Thanks Paul once again. ESW is probably Wham’s best loved song . Even George says it’s his favorite . Your vinyl rips are truly great. What’s next Last Christmas or I’m Your Man?
