Wang Chung – Wait (Remix) (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984

A. Front

“Wait” is a single by Wang Chung, released as the fourth and final single from their 1984 album, Points on the Curve. The single reached #87 on the UK Singles Chart. Aside from the early singles released as Huang Chung, “Wait” was the only single by Wang Chung that failed to chart on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Wait is also the only Wang Chung song to appear on two different non-compilation albums. Wait originally appeared on Points on the Curve, but was used again in the To Live and Die in L.A. soundtrack when director William Friedkin liked the song so much, he wanted to incorporate it into his 1985 thriller, To Live and Die in L.A. “Wait” appears during the end credits of the film.

No music video was shot for “Wait”.

Well, dang, I guess I’m too late to this par-tee! I guess I’ll simply have to check in more often @ BTG. Anyways, there’s still plenty of great tunes here.

Paul, I’m glad to ‘see’ you’re staying active & relatively healthy. I hope all is well with you.

Thanks for all you do 🙂

Just listened to this after letting it sit for some time. Quite surprised to hear what I can only describe as a groan that also appeared on Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s “Two Tribes (Hibakusha)”! (Steven Lipson was FGTH’s engineer, so it makes sense.)

Now I’ve been after this one since the 80’s. This was one of my favorite 12″ mixes of all time. Thanks for sharing it.

Without having downloaded it, I’m guessing that this is the same “Wait” remix as the B-side to the US 12″ of “Don’t Be My Enemy,” which has an extended dance remix of DBME (8:58) on side A and an extended dance remix of Wait that clocks in at 8:18. If you ever come across it, I heartily recommend the “Dance Hall Days” U.S. 12″ put out in 1997 by Geffen, featuring four very trance/electronica remixes of a remake that must have been done for a Greatest Hits compilation. The first on the B-side, “Dance Hall Days” (Richie Warburton Remix) is… Read more »

So speedy to get back to the BTG groove, Paul. I salute you!
Always love Wang Chung remixes, and so good to have the other versions of Dance Hall Days! Thanks Paul.
btw, Dance Hall Days is inspired by the book Lolita, and the song charts the degeneration from innocence to degradation.

Ahhh, Wang Chung. Other than DHD, I think the rest of the POTC singles only had one official remix, which is a shame. Not sure if you collect 7″ singles, but WC put out ‘Wait’ in a double 7″ gatefold that includes this awesome Thomas Dolby-esque track called ‘Hard Times’, plus a live version of DHD. Very hard to find.

WC really needs to put out a rarities/live/B-side/remixes comp. Lots of misc Wang/Huang Chung tracks out there!

Thanks for the great rip! Any chance we will see the full Extended mix of Dance Hall Days on your site? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pARZche9424 it is different than the more popular 7:27 mix.

Thanks in advance if we will see it! 🙂
