The ‘Queen of rock ‘n’ roll’ TINA TURNER has died at age 83.
Turner began her successful career with hits like “River Deep, Mountain High” alongside husband Ike Turner in the 1960s, from whom she separated after years of abuse, as she reported in her autobiography “I, Tina”. Producer Rupert Hine helped relaunch her career in the 1980s. Singles, such as “Let’s Stay Together” and the album “Private Dancer” put her firmly back into the mainstream, along with roles as ‘The Acid Queen’ in “Tommy” and ‘Aunt Entity’ in the film “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”. Her single “We Don’t Need Another Hero”, taken from the theme of that movie, was also a big hit.
In 2008, Turner came out of semi-retirement and embarked on her “Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour” – one of the largest ticket sales tours of that year. ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine has hailed her as “One of the greatest singers of all time”, reaching unprecedented heights in stadium-filling Rock.
Rolling Stone once named her “one of the greatest singers of all time.”
Thank you Tina for your life, and the music.
One of the most electric female entertainers of all time who could take someone else’s song and make it her own. Saw her at the Wiltern Theatre years ago. She & her band did “Legs” so well it made Z.Z. Top’s version sound like an easy listening arrangement in comparison. To be accurate, the British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) produced two songs for her: “Ball Of Confusion” for a covers comp of theirs in 1982 and later, “Let’s Stay Together”, which completely reignited her career when John Carter at Capitol Records signed her against the advice of others in the company.… Read more »
Tina was one of the greatest performers in history. And that’s not hyperbole. Her talent, her voice, her energy, her beauty, her strength, her positivity… all completely unmatched. The mark she made on our world will never be forgotten. Rest easy, Anna Mae. You’ve more than earned it.
I was at Tina’s concert at Woburn Abbey in 1990. I was at the back of the grounds and thankfully saw her on the big screens. The atmosphere and whole experience was unbelievable! I feel so lucky to have seen her in her prime. An unbelievable talent and person. It breaks my heart how she suffered in her early life. She simply was ‘the best.’ Her music has brought me so much happiness. R.I.P Tina Turner ❤️
I am playing Better Be Good To Me (Extended Version) all day since yesterday. Her vitality was and is an amazing inspiration.
Nothing lasts, and even though this is the way of things it remains sad that the light of so many artists who made the 80s come to life, has now faded. So I am bit sad. But I am also grateful as moments when you stop and look back make you realize the ethereal beauty that our flash of light in the darkness is.
Diva in the memory of GOD
Such contributions to music, hard to fathom her influence, but also a great person, shared her tribulations, and inspired others to overcome.
R.I.P Tina, thank god we still have Cher or the world would truely be a darker place

What bad news, what a great sadness, Tina Turner was present throughout our lives filling us with strength, vitality and joy, we will miss her very much, she has left us her great treasure, her music, positivity, strength and vitality.
Tina forever, incomparable and unique.
Such sad news. I will miss her tremendously. And I must give thanks to you, dear Paul, because, though you I was made aware of her fierce 12-inch back catalog. I’m so grateful to you for those phenomenal rips.
Jeff
One of the true greats. That she had the amazing career she had, stopped when she felt the time was right, and got to witness the enduring love the world has for her, was such sweet reward for one that worked so hard and gave us so much. She’ll be missed and fondly remembered. RIP, Ms Turner.
Tina fuiste grandi
osa y maravillosa te extrañaremos 😪
Wow you broke the news to me! I remember her big “comeback” in the ‘80’s and since then she became such a fixture even in retirement. Kygo’s remix was such a reminder of how her voice could take you places… she will be missed!
Shocking news. Glad you did almost all her 12 inches in the past Paul. Many versions still not available on CD or digitally. She will surely be missed. A 100% unique artist.
Thank you for the nice tribute to Tina Turner. Wow shocking news. She was an icon. Her comeback in ’84 was one of the most unlikely and greatest comebacks in music history. She was a real fighter and, sadly, in later years dealt with unimaginable tragedy. RIP.
Unbelievably sad. Tina was and is an icon.
Such a great loss.
RiP Tina 🙁
