Ironically, this was the last commercial UK single off that album and none were ‘The Gap’ (which only got a 12″ release in Germany, Australia, and a US promo pressing). A shame, since it’s a stronger single candidate than ‘Sister Of Mercy’ and, in my opinion, deserved more attention.

I hope Paul can post one of those ‘Gap’ 12″s to make up for my disappointment. 😉

Oh that’s brilliant! 🙂
I don’t think the ‘sister of mercy’ single remix has appeared on any re-issues before… you post so much that I never knew existed Paul! 🙂

Paul, it’s comments like the ones above that make me so proud to have stumbled into your realm of Burning The Ground. You are a wish granter that’s for sure and your generosity holds no bounds. Thank you for these rarities and brilliant quality.

And please feel better my friend.

Great run of TT singles.
Its funny, I didn’t realize the B-side was mixed by The Swedish Egil.
I listened to him all of the time way back when he was on KROQ.
Hope all is well Paul.
I’m especially pleased because I believe the 7″ edits aren’t available on CD.

Loving these 7″ remixes, Paul.
Always thought this is a beautiful single that deserved more chart success. And the 12″ remix for this is sublime too.
How are you feeling my friend? In the pink of health now I hope 😀

OMG awesome. I requested this also in 2012 i can’t believe it! Such great news. I shall make sure i donate again as it’s been a while. Thank you so much. I wasn’t sure on the ‘A’ side i would imagine that i have it on a number of collections (i have about 25 or so TTT cd’s in total). Jermajesty, the ‘B’ side Out of the gap (7″ edit) is obviously the one here and completely unavailable on CD to date. That may change later in the year though. The one on ‘Into the gap’ (2008 deluxe edition) was… Read more »

Lol it’s 8:57 so i was almost spot on. Of course as stated in the booklet there simple wasn’t enough room on the disc for the 7″ edit of ‘Out of the gap’. ‘Sister of mercy’ (7″ remix) also isn’t on the 2008 edition. Just for information’s sake i also have the USA 2004 edition of ‘Into the gap’. It has a second CD which contains this only… Interview – Recorded March 1984 With Mark Goodyear At Radio Cycle!!!

Thank you for the B-side. FYI this version of Sister Of Mercy appears on the Thompson Twins “Platinum & Gold Collection” CD.

Always been one of my fave TT tracks, quite understated (for them) and not so obvious. I bought the shaped picture disc at the time. It was much more expensive, but tragically the sound quality was absolutely appaling. 😀

Loved the b-side too, a sort of mini-megamix. 😀

Is it the 7″ edit of Out of the Gap that’s never been on CD? I see there’s a version on the 2008 re-issues.

I loved the last Thompson Twins post, the B side “Dancersaurus” is really catchy.

Looking forward to hearing your latest post 🙂

Are you trying to spoil us? 🙂 Not only do we have another “never been on CD” track in the B-side, we have your SUPREME rip of it, which sounds 10 times better than the 12″ version that WAS “remastered” for CD a few years ago. Thank you!

This sounds far and away better than anything offered digitally before! A better quality vinyl source is on the “Gap” German 12″ single or US 7″ single, but I doubt you could make it sound much better than this. We’ll never really get a good quality copy. This was mixed in LA by KROQ DJ The Swedish Eagle, and pressed into vinyl white labels for DJ use. The Thompson Twins loved the mix so much, they took one of those (basically bootleg) vinyls back to Arista to use as a B-side. The 7″ version was made from a copy of… Read more »
