BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
The Star Sisters were a female Dance/Pop trio from The Netherlands that were very popular during the 1980s, most notably as the ladies who performed the chorus as members of Jaap Eggermont’s studio act Stars on 45 and in a spinoff in which they performed as The Andrews Sisters in a medley that charted internationally in 1984.
The members were Sylvana van Veen (B. 1950), Patricia Paay (B. April 7, 1949) and Yvonne Keeley (B. September 6, 1952). Paay and Keeley are sisters in real life. In 1984, they performed a song (during the film’s end credits) on the Japanese film The Return of Godzilla.
Between 1983 and 1987 the group released only six hits in Europe, including their best known hits “Are You Ready For My Love” in 1986 and “He’s The 1 (I Love)” in 1985.

Thanks SO much for this fantastic 12″, the great presentation and the unbelievable recording quality. Keep up the good work!
The original members were Patricia Paay, Yvonne Keeley and Sylvana van Veen. Sylvana left the group in 1984 and was replaced by Ingrid Ferdinandus. So on this record you hear Patricia, Yvonne and Ingrid, not Sylvana.
GREAT! Thanks for posting The Star Sisters, Paul. I have this but my vinyl is so dirty.. Now i have a clean copy 🙂 THANK YOU, Paul
You’re very welcome Ron 🙂
And another amazing post by DJ Paul! Now this one was a huge surprise. To my knowledge, only one other blog in the entire internet has ever posted a rip of this, and that link is loooong dead. This song was a huge dance hit in the Philippines back in ’85/’86, and spent its days roaring up the dance floors in the country alongside Madonna’s and E.G. Daily’s dance smashers.
Thank you Dj Paul. THIS is an absolutely amazing post. 😀
You’re welcome Santi I absolutely love this track. It’s full of energy and fun. I can see why it was a dance floor hit 🙂
If you don’t mind me asking Paul, how on Earth did you come across this vinyl? As far as I know, it didn’t have any release in the United States so it’s quite a curiosity for me. (I’m still trying to trace how this song got into the Philippines for that matter. It’s a bit of a mystery as well for me since I wasn’t born yet when this song came out) :))
Santi I actually got this record around 1998 from a local record shop that sells import vinyl. The store was closing as many have done and the record was in the bargain bin I think I paid $2 US for it.
Never heard of these girls before, but after some digging I’m hoping you might have The Andrews Sisters Medley also?!
Thanks for bringing us “new” discoveries!
You’re welcome Cdmaniac. I always enjoy posting the more obscure lesser known titles 🙂
April Fool?
No it’s actually a really good song. Your welcome 🙂
Surprising post Paul! For me as a Dutch guy it brings back some memories. They were hot and sexy on TV back then. One error: the girls didn’t sing the chorus on Stars On 45, that was done by one of the best Dutch background singer, called Jody Pijper (still singing by the way). The Star Sister indeed were a spin off of the Stars On 45 project. They had a brief but highly succesful moment with an Andrew Sisters cover act in 1984. Later on they went disco and changed production team: Eric van Tijn & Jochem Fluitsma (easy… Read more »
Thanks for the info stefano 🙂
One error for you as well Stefano. The Andrew Sisters medley was succesful but not in 1984 but one year earlier. It was the biggest song in our country in 1983.
Hi Paul. Thank you for this. Nice start of the week! 🙂
You’re welcome Spring 🙂
