Hi guys,
A quick update! The Schiit Mani Phono Preamp arrived late yesterday afternoon. I am spending the day today doing some fine tuning so I am planning on bringing you a new post tomorrow (Wednesday 12/19/18). So far all indications are great. The Mani sounds really good and I hope that you guys will be able to hear the difference. See you tomorrow.

Congratulations for the acquisition!
You will love that thing! Best piece I bought bedsides my ProJect Carbon 5 with the Sumiko Blue Point II cart.
Love it…i think it looks sharp…like my Mac / Apple stuff….
Congratulations! This is great news! 🙂
Excelente! Gracias!
Mani, That thing is one fine looking piece of Schiit. Lol.
All jokes aside Paul, Schiit makes some really good equipment especially headphone amps.
Congratulations paul,
glad to see you’re picking up some
good equipment, and we will all be greatful for it.
watch out boy, she’ll chew you up, she’s a ‘mani’-eater, ha ha.

Congrats man!, looks like a fine piece of hardware not only from the reviews. So the quality posts continues =). Kind Regards and all the best with your new gear.
Do you also have a blog George?
Mani is great, it’s true. But Mani + Reni? Transcendent. 😉
Cool. I just picked up styli for my Numark TTUSB’ GT cartridge. I can’t wait to put it on and rebuild my online station’s library of 45’s.
Talk about the good schiit. That’s some turntable porn you have pictured.
Glad you like it so far. Great purchase Paul 🙂
Paul, do you mind showing us the exact configuration on the botton? I’m considering buying one.
These pics are from Schiit’s website
But is it the same configuration you’re gonna use for your rips?
Yes, I am using the default settings for MM cartridge.
Shame on me – I had never heard the name SCHIIT before. After your first post about the Mani I bought the book “Schiit Happened“. Brilliant!
Congrats Paul! Really exciting.
That looks lovely… but what does it do 🙂
Maybe this will help improve the re-rip of the Record Store Day 12inch of Wham!’s Last Christmas.
🙂
phono preamp
An electronic circuit that amplifies and equalizes the analog output of the cartridge in a phonograph turntable. The output is boosted to a level equivalent to other audio sources such as tapes and CDs, and RIAA equalization is required to restore the original signal. Typically built into an audio or A/V receiver, phono preamps also come as external devices for units without phono inputs as well as for audiophiles who want the highest-quality restoration. External phono preamps are also used for turntable-to-computer applications.
Paul!! So excited for you and……US!!! This is excellent news and the equipment is gorgeous and very sleekly sexy!! I’m so happy for you. Again, the generosity of you and this site makes my heart swell. Just phenomenal!!
Jeff
Nice. I still wonder how bad the “affordable” DJPRE II is in comparison to this, as that’s within my budget, while the Mani is less so.
Either way, I look forward to the new rips! 🙂
The DJPRE II is a nice preamp – but to get the most out of it you need to upgrade the external power supply – google it, lots of discussion
What do you use for volume control and headphone monitoring it dosen’t appear to have those options as the Bellari did
It has gain and load switches located on the bottom of the unit. I have the Mani connected to a Novation Audiohub 2×4 Audio Interface for monitoring, headphones and recording this is fed into my PC.
Ay caramba! Nice and slick!!
I have to say that the Bellari looks more serious than this one.
the Ballari is a Tube preamp vs. digital, Tube amps have a warmer sound than digital.
So how is it sound?
Thanks and congratulations.
I noticed an immediate difference as soon as I connected the Mani it is much more clear with better highs and great bass, vocals are more present and ot front soundstage is wider. The Bellari had more of a thud in the bass area and the highs and vocals were not as pronounced. I think the Mani is going to be a nice addition.
That’s interesting Paul. The ratings on it are very good so that makes sense.
Hi Paul,
I noticed the difference in your new rips, it’s much more clear, but for me the bass were more present before. thanks for your work.
oh, that’s sexy!
Yeahhhhhh, great!!!!
Good news, how do you pronounce its name? correct me if I’m mistaken, is it like Shit?
What is it a German brand, so it’s like schisse?
Anyways, it looks cool. Congrats.
Hi Jude
Yes, that is how it is pronounced. The Schiit Mani is made in the USA though.
Men, the pre-amp is so much better, the sound is amazing clear and the stereo image is superb. Nice Choice.Keep it up, good work
