The Concept – Mr. D.J. (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

“Mr. D.J.” is an early 4th & Broadway release from 1985 by the group The Concept. Eric “Rico” Reed provides the voice of the DJ as he listens to callers requests over a cyclic, funk groove. A great party track to start the weekend. And did I mention the bass line.

Among the countless things I adore about you Paul, one thing you can certainly do for all of us is to start off the weekend right!! Just by the description alone, this sounds like a perfect party record. I was a big fan of the 4th & Broadway record label because so many of their releases were very different than a lot of the other labels. Artists like Noel, M/A/R/R/S, Steinski and Mass Media, Ledernaken and Band, etc. were on my radar when I was growing up. And what do you know Paul, this is a new one for me.… Read more »
