Ok Paul got it :
Artist Name : G _ _ _ _ _ R C _ L _
Track Name: L _ _ _ _ _ _ P
The “Dub” hint was helpful.
Fun fact: I own this 12″ but never played the “Acid” dub.
Wow, you’re absolutely right! That’s definitely it. But none of the sounds from Paul’s acid dub sample above are in the original song. And the Acid Dub is by none other than Arthur Baker!!!
Just to be clear: I wasn’t talking about the song itself. I was talking about the mastering and the bad audio quality. (btw.: I owned three TB-303 , any further questions?)
I had a TB 303 … I wish I still had it. I used to layer squelching sounds over a lot of the mixes back in the day to play at the clubs. Sooooo much fun!
With your help I was able to figure it out. But I’ve never even heard of this song let alone HEAR it. 🙂 The artist (at least on this song) sounds like he’s really trying to sing like George Michael.
so true! Like a freestyle version of George Michael.

I know I’ve heard this dub before, but I can’t quite place it. The first few seconds sound like Duran, but the rest of it uses Depeche synth sounds. It gives very strong Westside Music vibes (e.g. Axodry, Moskwa TV, Camouflage, MCL, JWB, Celebrate The Nun), but the vocal bits sound “too happy”, so it’s probably something much more obvious like Duran Duran or one of the many Depeche clones, but in a Razormaid Dub Remix … lol Every time I listen to it, it’s at the tip of my tongue ear, so as soon as you reveal it, I… Read more »
This version is a Dub but the vocal is part of the song.

It’s incredibly frustrating. I’m 100% sure I know which song it is. It’s right on the tip of my tongue, but it just won’t quite materialize. I’m looking forward to you revealing it, so I can say: “Oh, yes – of course, that’s the one.”
My first thought was Erasure’s “Heavenly Action”, though – But since you had already dismissed Erasure as the artist on several occasions, I searched my obscure musical memory again, and I just know that I’m only 1% away from spitting out the correct output. Annoying.

We can tell you’re back in action because you’ve managed to stump your entire following with the break you posted. Like most, I don’t recognize it. Is it even from the ’80s?
Oh I know this master but I don’t want to spoil da speculation of these beats. If I answer da title and crew correctly, then do I get a cookie?? Rok on DjPaulT, I’m glad that you’re back in da house.

You’re whetting our appetites Paul! Just Can’t Get Enough by Depeche Mode? That pretty much sums up our vinyl appetites, Lol.

Hello Paul. I hope so much that you return to playing music with the highest quality and musical taste. I am happy for your improvement and I send you a big hug.
There are many 12” that you have not uploaded yet but let’s wait as always, attentive that one day dreams will come true. Greetings.
Shazam and Soundhound aren’t even close to perfect, especially if there are no vocals. Neither of them recognized a live Rolling Stones song album track in the past, so this is always a work in progress
I would not of guessed it was a Gardener Cole single. I remember buying his 1991 single Wall Of Fear which had Eric Kupper remixes.
Damn, I got cocky — I thought it was The Beatmasters featuring The Cookie Crew, Rok da House. This was fun in these weird times, live it up everyone!
Hello everyone,
Could this be a remix of Erasure’s “Stop”? I think I recognize the “be” in the phrase “we’ll be together again”.
Thank you from France, Paul, for your passion for music and for all your work. Take good care of yourself,
niKo

With all due respect to Arthur Baker, he was having a bad day when he created this mix.
I think he was remixing dozens of songs each month by that time. I imagine it just became a job (instead of passion) after a while.
Acid is a helluva drug, this just proves it, no offense to nobody, but if this Acid Dub does not deter you – nothing will. Just say “NO” K?

Yes you are right. He sounds a bit like George Michael. But it has also these “Information Society” vibes. That’s why I liked the original Club Mix.

Same here, I am sure I know this track. The chopped vocal part sounds very familiar too me….but my brain will not provide any information ;-).
No idea what the snippet is from but you got me intrigued.
Paul we need a hint. Is that a vocal sample or a part of the original song?
This version is a Dub but the vocal is part of the song.

Yes 1988 🙂

Some kind of “Dub” “project” of Good Bad & Ugly, mayhaps?

Sounds close but that is not it. 🙂
This is so exciting, Paul!! My ears are salivating!!!

Wish I could provide more hints, but you’ll have to wait for my next post. I love seeing everyone make a guess, though!
If Shazam can’t ID it, I surely can’t. But it does sound a bit like Erasure
I agree it does sound like Erasure but that’s not it 🙂

No, not Erasure. 🙂
🤔
Sounds like Erasure
Sorry, no it’s not Erasure.
