“Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel” is a disco song written by Freddie Perren and Keni St. Lewis. It was recorded by the American band Tavares in 1976. The song was released as a single from the album Sky High! and was split into two parts. The first part was 3 minutes and 28 seconds in length, while the second part was 3 minutes and 10 seconds. The total length is over 6 minutes.
“Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel” reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976. It also peaked at #3 on the Hot Soul Singles chart and spent two weeks at #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
The song would also afford the group an international chart hit, reaching #1 in the Netherlands, and charting in Australia (#30), Canada (#11), and the UK (#4).
In 1985 the song was remixed by Dutch DJ, Producer and Mastermixer Ben Liebrand. This version re-entered the UK singles chart in February 1986 peaking at #12.

Two great remixes.
“This version re-entered the UK singles chart in February 1986 peaking at #12.” I remember the song in the charts. Around that time of the UK charts, some older songs were coming back to have more chart success. In 1987 Reet Petite by Jackie Wilson got to number 1 in the UK top 40.

Love the original, but I love this Liebrand Mix more. Like you said, you brought it up to date without doing much “damage”. LOL!
There are actually two Liebrand Remix. There is a longer 8 minute plus version.
And I love what Liebrand did to their other singles too.
Besides the fore-mentioned It Only Takes A Minute, there’s also More Than A Woman and my favourite Don’t Take Away The Music. Hopefully you can revisit these for your future DFs?

The 8:35 minute version is the other version, made specifically for a 1985 cassette compilation. Not that great I think, it hasn’t got a nice flow. Just stick to this 6:55 minute version I would say. Ben Liebrand also remixed ‘Don’t Take Away The Music’ after the European chart success of ‘Heaven’. I think I like that one even more. Ben did some great remixes. One of his best is the remix of ‘The Lover In Me’ by Sheena Easton. Only released on vinyl on DMC unfortunately. Never understood why. It would have been such a treat to have had… Read more »

And Grand 12-Inches Part 3 contains the mix that Stefano means, it was on a cassette special made for a dutch chips label.

I’ll be the first to say it…the chick on the cover looks like Rihanna, or rather Rihanna looks like her. Not a bad mix, but I do prefer the original. I’ve always felt that remixes of disco tracks left them feeling a little heavy, stripping their buoyancy. Liebrand also mixed their ace track “It Only Takes A Minute”. Thanks DJPaulT for once again taking the effort!
Thanks DanaDotCom I like this remix because it keeps a lot of the elements of the original changing it just enough. I don’t like when they completely change the track so much that it’s unrecognizable.
