Hi Paul, I haven’t written a comment for a long long time. But after all the hassle with your hosting provider and consideration how to move forward, I’m happy that you decided to just stick with FLAC 16bit to keep things going and I am very pleased that the first new post is from one of my (if not the biggest) lost 80s bands SILENT RUNNING. It’s a shame that their awesome debut album “Shades Of Liberty” (called “Emotional Warfare” in the US) has never been re-released…
Keep up your idealism and good work. All the best, 1980-F
hi paul can you please do a 24 bit flac version of this 12 inch please thanks jeff
Ooooh, that´s different and odd and unusual and….just delightful.
I especially love the Sudden Africa Mix from the b-side. Really had to stop myself from going
“We will, We will Rock Rock You, Rock Rock You…” all way long. Great remix. And “Crimson
Days” is a great track, too. Should have been an a-side.
Brilliant re-restart, Paul 😉
Silent Running have fast become one of my fav lost 80s bands. I agree with you that “Crimson Day” should have been an a-side. I am so happy that you liked it 🙂
Hi Paul,
Welcome back!! So glad you managed to work out the storage issues.
And thanks for this wonderful release, including work by my friend Pete Hammond.
Keep up the great work.
Viva Forever (BTG that is haha!)
Cheers,
John.
You’re welcome John 🙂
Thanks for upping this – I thought I had all the 12″s from this album and had no idea that this existed. If you ever come across it, definitely pick up “No Faith Is Blind,” which was a one-off UK single that never appeared on their albums. The 12″ mix of it is garbage, but the 7″ is awesome—a great, stellar riff; straight-up glossy U2-meets-Bryan Adams production; and some of the most deliciously over-the-top lyrics by a band that never met a cliche they didn’t like.
Thanks for the info Clive I have several of their singles but “No Faith Is Blind” is one I do not have so I will have to track it down 🙂
I miss the mp3 files

Please go back and read the numerous posts by Paul as to why the recordings are now 16 bit. Be grateful that you are still able to download anything at all!

Thank you I appreciate this so much 🙂
Oh Paul, I’m sincerely glad you’re back to posting. I was very, very worried. Not just for myself and others, but for you. I know you love sharing music with us and your Burning The Ground is the benchmark of awesomeness. I’m just so happy that we’re still getting quality rips with CD sound! So many have opinions, but I think this was the best solution for everyone. I just SWOON in pleasure and appreciation for all your efforts over the years. Nobody does what you do and like the way you do it too. Yes, I will still buy… Read more »
Thank you Jeff. I was a little sad when I saw folks starting to bicker on my previous post. I realize folks don’t like change but it has to happen. I would love to just have a Hi res 24bit site but that takes up so much space and resources. People cannot expect me to keep years and years of huge files available for download, heck even the record labels take things out of print. It was especially strange seeing all of the folks come out of the shadows to put their two cents worth in. I have gotten many… Read more »
Dear me, it makes me sad to read this, Paul. Why can’t people just appreciate this great site and your wonderful work? Why can’t people just be happy with what they’ve got and with what they are being offered here FOR FREE?!?!
Well, we won’t change those narrow-minded few, we just have to accept that they exist. Let’s try and ignore them. You will always have Jeff’s and my support, Paul. And a few others’. You know that.
Wow Jeff! What a sublime comment. I totally agree with you. You say exactly what is on my mind. There is just nothing to add. What Paul does is so unique and precious. I will always be grateful. In this world of trouble BTG is a fountain of joy.
So glad to see you are back with a new post. And that´s another great one which is totally new to me. “Totally obscure 80s” is definitely my favorite series by far. Thank you so much Paul for introducing me to “Silent Running”.
You’re welcome Daniel 🙂
This is indeed very obscure and totally vinyl only. I only had the album Shades of Liberty on vinyl, but not this 12 inch version! Thanks a lot!
You’re very welcome Martijn 🙂
Thank you, Paul. I love the obscure ones the most!
You’re welcome Dean me too 🙂
24 bits please
+1
Too much space and there many users that download more than one file at the time.that’s why the servers crash down and that’s the reason for only 16 bit.
