Thanks for this post. Shriekback was one of those obscure but cool bands that you could often hear in the best TV show ever: Miami Vice. The speedboat scene with “Running on the rocks” in unforgettable.

Thanks for the song. I’m a 2000 AD reader. I never knew there was a pop song with a link to Nemesis the Warlock. The title of the mix – ‘arch-deviant’ – is a direct reference. Nemesis’ enemy is the evil Torquemada and he refers to Nemesis as the “arch deviant.”

Chartarchive.org lists the song reaching number 94 in the UK chart.

My heart just stopped Paul!! YIKES!!! Wait, it just started again!! You are so AMAZING!! Shriekback is one of my absolute favorite bands and this song is a monster!! And so much perfection for Halloween!! Gosh, I adore this place of yours Paul!! I can’t wait until Mothloop gets to hear this one too as he’s named after a Shriekback song!! This song is so marvelously evil and just gives me chills and thrills. Shriekback can always write fantastic tunes with great bass lines and all; it just slithers around our heads and makes our bodies feel compelled to move!!… Read more »
