Hi everyone,
First I want to say thank you for all of the love you guys sent my mom. I passed it along to her and she is very touched by it.
You might have noticed that the older 24bit files are no longer available. I decided to only allow them to be active for seven days. The reason is that recently my site hosting and website security costs increased, therefore, I had to cut something. Paying $40 a month to host 24bit files was getting to be a bit much. The last fundraiser in October was not as successful as past ones due to the pandemic, in which I totally understand. I would urge you to subscribe to BTG, that way you can get an email everytime I make a new post. Then you will not miss out. 16bit files will stay available for at least one year, then I remove them to make space for new files on my server. I have also decided to cut back a little on posting. Posts will not be everyday like before because I have been posting pretty much daily for the last twelve years so I want to slow down a bit to focus on my family, as well as putting out quality transfers that I can take my time working on.
I appreciate all of the support that you guys have given it really means a lot.

Hey Paul, I didn’t realise BTG was 12 years old!! I’ve said before, your commitment to post so regularly and timely is more than I’ve ever managed in my full time job! 😀 Bravo to you, I don’t think anyone can complain if you want/need to focus on other things. Looking forward to whatever you do post. 🙂
I don’t think the 24-bit rips are necessary at all! It’s all about the quality of the transfer itself! Your transfers in 320K would probably beat most FLAC rips by miles. A lousy transfer in FLAC is still gonna sound lousy. So, personally, I only grab your standard FLAC anyways, and I am never disappointed!
Keep up the great work!!!
Nope. I much prefer DSD128 vinyl rips with a few clicks and pops, than completely surgically restored 16 bit.
yeah, I’m not worried about clicks and pops eiter. I was specifically just referring to the “clean transfer” from vinyl to digital format with regard to the quality of the equipment used, etc. DJPaulT’s transfers have always been immaculate, even when he still uploaded in MP3. I have compared his transfers to “commercial releases” … and Paul’s transfers are always better!!!
So that’s what I was saying: A lousy transfer will still sound lousy, no matter what the final bitrate is.
Paul, I just sent you a donation to help with the site for a few months. Hopefully, others will do the same.
I appreciate that Bill. Thank you so very much. 🙂
HAPPy BIRTHDAY PAUL!!!!
Thank you 🙂
Paul, did you mention the passing of Meat Loaf (Marvin Lee Aday) on your site? He died last month. He had hits in three decades 70 – 90s.
His 80s singles include Dead Ringer For Love.
His biggest selling single was 1993’s I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That.) Reached number one in the US, UK and many other countries.
He was known for his unique rock opera style of song making and vocal delivery.
If hosting 24bit has become too much its seriously time to just consider releasing the entire 24bit BTG archive as a single torrent on rutracker. We have discussed this in the past and i have respected the fact its your work and you didnt want it reposted.
Hey Paul, sending you all the best vibes for everything you have done here over the years, you are a generous soul and it shows in every aspect of your life. It is amazing that you have not only spun so many good records here, but that you have managed to still surprise us. I think that what you bring to light may be enlightening even to folks compiling 12″ masters. Speaking to a friend who does remaster work, it is amazing the how much of this material has just been neglected or forgotten in the archives or stuck in… Read more »
Thank you so much Joey 🙂
We appreciate your efforts to brighten our days and warm our hearts with your posts, so no pressure on your schedule! We’ll see you when we see you…
Thank you retro Hound 🙂
Get the songs legally. There are many services where you actually can purchase digital music. I know that some cannot be found. The main reason why you actually can’t find them out there legal copies. Is just because of all the illegal downloads. Just think of it. If you are the owner of a production you see doesn’t have the potential to be sold, because of all the illegal downloads. I see people request some tunes here. Those 12″ versions could actually have been released as bonus tracks on legal records or downloads in studio quality. Just making a point.… Read more »
Hi. I’m not sure if I am following you correctly. 90% of the items Paul posts here have never been fully available on cd format. Meaning, if Paul posts a 12″ with 5 mixes, it’s likely that only 2-3 of those mixes were ever available on cd. Sometimes 0 of these 5 mixes were available. It’s extremely rare that Paul will post a 12″ that 100% of the mixes are/were available on cd format. Now, the Labels have released some mixes on remastered/expanded cds, but again, not 100% of the mixes. Since the mid 80s I have wished the Labels… Read more »
Still the owner of the product is the recording companies or their copyright owners. As it still is under copyright law all distribution unlawfully is considered as piracy by law.
In many ways your are correct but Paul is not posting Katy Perry. As pointed out, many of the songs posted by Paul are not available in any current formats. If the songs posted by Paul were in great demand then the industry would make then available for big-bucks. The songs posted by Paul have been lost in time, especially the extended dance versions. Paul is exposing a new generation to music from 40 years ago.
Paul, is there any way for us to make a payment/donation to the record Gods for the songs that you post?
There is no way to send, for example, Epic Records a payment of $20. The music industry knows that these 30+ year old 12″ mixes are (and were) only sought after by a very minuscule population (and for a very short time) and therefore it makes no business sense to re-release them other than dumping a few mixes on an expanded cd set as a bonus and still pray that someone will buy the expanded cd even though they have the original from 30+ years ago. The vast majority of anyone looking for these mixes are ex-djs, and who are… Read more »
Bill if there was a way I would gladly do it. I am all for artists getting what they deserve but as mentioned the labels and sometimes even the artists are not interested in bringing these mixes back to life. Back in the day the 7″ and 12″ were often looked at as throw-away items.
hi paul,
there is so much music you have put out already.
if people want more, they can look back through that.
post whenever you feel like. there is no pressure to do it.
thanks for all the great music through the years.
we will have plenty more to come, whenever it comes out.
take care of yourself and your family.

I always thought the 24-bit was a little of an overkill tbh.
Thank you for all that you do share with us, I appreciate it all. Best wishes to your mother being in good health.
Thank you so much, David 🙂
I just got out of a 60 day drug Rehab, staying in a 1/2 house where they are helping me get back on my feet. The music is great therapy for me,and if I had funds I’d gladly donate.
Thank you, Benjamin. I am sending you positive vibes hang in there 🙂
It’s good that you focus more on family because it’s the most precious thing in life. You have given me so much joy during all those years. I will always be grateful and I will keep on supporting you.
