BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
In June 1985, Scritti Politti released their second (and most successful) album, Cupid and Psyche ’85, with songs produced by Arif Mardin and performances by numerous session musicians. The LP was a Top 5 hit in the UK and also sold well in the US. The album included the song, “Perfect Way”. It was only a minor hit when released in the UK (#48) but it became the band’s biggest US single, peaking at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in addition the song peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, with remixes by Committee (Alan Meyerson, Francois Kevorkian, Josh Abbey) and Steve Peck.

Thanks, Paul! I was belatedly addicted to Cupid & Psyche — it was on heavy rotation in my dorm circa 1988. Did you know that this version of the Way Perfect Mix is actually an edit? The full 7:37 mix is on a promo (http://www.discogs.com/Scritti-Politti-Perfect-Way/release/1010925).
The full-length Way Perfect mix was also on a European 12″; I have it ripped but can’t find the original disc — so I’m not sure what was the country of issue.
@VanceMan: I have a European import 12″ too that has the album version (called the Extended Mix) and yet another mix called Version Extended Mix. I’ll have to dust off the turntable to compare them this weekend.

Thank you so much for uploading this one. I have the 12″ myself but was hoping that one day I would see it on your site, now, here it is. The Cupid & Psyche 85′ CD contains the 12″ versions of all the singles relased from the album except “Perfect Way”, so I think it’s way perfect that you put it on here. Thanks again, you’re the best.
