Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985
Artist spotlight PSEUDO ECHO!
“Don’t Go” is a song by Australian pop group Pseudo Echo. The song was released in October 1985 as the lead single from their second studio album, Love An Adventure (1985). The song became the band’s second top-five single, reaching number 4 on the Australian Kent Music Report.
In the United States, the song was not released as a single early pressings of the U.S. edition of the RCA LP “Love An Adventure” contained “Don’t Go” instead of “Funkytown” (a.k.a. “Funky Town”). The record company soon regretted this decision and allowed people who bought this version to exchange it for a reissue with “Funkytown” on it.

Completely new to me!! Which would explain given it was never released as a single here. Very catchy and great beat! Thank you for this rarity straight from Oz!!
Damn, I love that cover. So 80s. So Pseudo Echo. 🙂
Thanks for this absolutely fun song from this great band! You rock, sir!
Ha love that Jazz version of Living In A Dream!
Thanks again! I knew of the various editions of this album but did not know RCA let people exchange copies for one with Funkytown! 🤯. That’s just crazy! Love it when you include details like that I don’t know! 😎😎
You’re welcome, ING. Pretty cool of RCA to do that.
It is! What record company would do that??? I would’ve had to keep both if I were in that position. As it was they had already substituted Funkytown when I bought my copy, but I subsequently found the previous version in cutouts at the grocery store! 😆
Great song Paul! I am thoroughly enjoying this look into Pseudo Echo’s discography! I love the strong synth hooks coupled with the guitar licks Thank you again for all your excellent work!!
Jeff
Thank you, Jeff. I feel this one could also be on a Halloween playlist. 🙂
I can see that!
Jeff
I always enjoy your site but don’t usually say anything. I so appreciate the work you do and need to say Thanks for this recent Pseudo Echo spotlight. It’s so hard to find their vinyl let alone good quality transfers. Do you have any thoughts about the recent ‘Machine mix’ of Listening?
Thank you, Nate T., for taking the time to comment. The “Machine Remix” is pretty good and sounds very 2023 with sort of an industrial vibe.
Man, that hair! 😁 I love it!
Thank you for another excellent Pseudo Echo 12″!!! This is definitely one of their funkiest songs with that amazing bass line! Imagine what Jellybean or Pettibone would have done with those drum beats and that bass!
You’re welcome, Martika. I want them to bring back that hairstyle lol just kidding. it looks good on them though. 🙂
