BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“A Beat for You” is a song by the Australian pop group Pseudo Echo. The song was released in April 1984 as the second single from their debut studio album, Autumnal Park (1984). The song peaked at number 12 on the Australian Kent Music Report.
AllMusic said, “driving hard rock riffs puncture Pierre Gigliotti and James Leigh’s wall of synthesizers. Vocalist Brian Canham has a darkly erotic voice that only new wave groups seem to breed — imagine a cross between Jim Kerr of Simple Minds and Midge Ure.”

So good. Thank you Paul
Autumnal Park has never sounded this good.
you have done much better than the other releases including the last one from the official Ebay store. It was terrible.
Thank you mate 🙂
TOTALLY LOVE PSEUDO ECHO! I remember seeing their first U.S. released video “Listening” back in the early 80’s and watching it on MTV and Night Trax. Just imported their “Long Plays 83-87” to get all of their 12″s in one shot. Also a proud owner of their original, first release Autumnal Park – and the remastered version straight from Australia. Really love that you preserved and shared something from this band! Thanks, Paul!
They are one of my all-time favorite bands and feel lucky to have been able to grab most of their US and Aussie 12″ singles. The remastered CD for “Autumnal Park” was a letdown since they used a very bad vinyl rip for the source. The band has said that the original master tapes are lost.
Glad you enjoy them as much as I do – and yeah, the fact that the master tapes are lost is a huge letdown 🙁
Thanks Paul. This one really resonates with me. Apparently, it was in our charts for 16 weeks of 1984, peaking at no. 6. Great to hear the single version again and the extended which I don’t think I’ve heard before.
I wish that PE would have been bigger here in the states “Funkytown” was their only hit here. I have several US 12″ singles including this one which all have different mixes than the ones found on the Australian singles. 🙂
Thanks for this!!
You’re welcome, Grant 🙂
Absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! I love the description :a darkly erotic voice that only new wave groups seem to breed — imagine a cross between Jim Kerr of Simple Minds and Midge Ure.”
I am so ready for this Paul!!!!
