Still love the early Buzzcocks albums (especially A Different Kind of Tension) and the Pete Shelley solo LPs Homosapien, XL.1, plus Heaven & the Sea are always a joy to listen to 30 years later ! R.I.P.
p.s. I hope you can post the 12″ of “On Your Own” in the future…

An excellent songwriter, really british in its melodic sense. I saw them live in Paris in 2007, and it was still great. RIP

Paul, it was your Burning The Ground site I heard the news about Pete Shelley first. I loved this guy. So many memories of his music, especially in the early days of New Wave. I’m very sad right now because so many of my beloved artists are leaving us. Thank you for posting his music on your site. I always feel it’s a tribute to artists that need and deserve preservation and another listen. You’ve got one of the biggest hearts around. Gosh, I have so much swirling around in my head. This is devastating news.

I never heard Pete was sick! The first time I heard him, it was in – of all things to have Rock and Pop Music as a soundtrack (and I am not joking about this either) – a compiled gay porn video! (Also featured was Alan Parsons Project and the Steve Miller Band!

R.I.P. I wasn’t completely familiar with all his work, but I love “Homosapien” and “Telephone Operator”. I just added the “Elongateddancepartydubmix” of “Homosapien” (very cool 12″!) to my USB flash drive (for my car) the other day, so it’s sad to see him gone at such a young age.
