BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989
“Ou est le Soleil?” which means “Where Is The Sun?” is less a 12” single, and more a 12”, double sided B-side. “Ou est le Soleil” is also the B-side on the late-80’s McCartney single “Figure of Eight”. This 12″ features remixes by the legendary Shep Pettibone with production by Stephen Lipson and Trevor Horn. The original version of “Ou est le Soleil?” can be found on the LP “Flowers In The Dirt”.
“Ou est le Soleil?” peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart on December 21, 1989.
You may not be familiar with this track but give it a few listens I am sure you will grow to really enjoy it. This is one of those occasions that really makes me proud of “Burning The Ground” because I love giving new life to tracks that many people are not aware of. Enjoy!

Thanks Paul. I didn’t have this one.
Great track! I loved this album and saw Paul in 1989 when he toured in support of it. I have mixes from other tracks (“This One”, “Figure of Eight”, etc.) but this is a new one for me.
Thanks!
I came to know about this single when I was checking out the Club Play charts in 1989…what’s Paul doing there? and with a Pettibone remixed single that is not Figure Of Eight!
I later managed to grab a copy at a sale for $1. Charming in a way, it is certainly not Paul’s best nor worst.
But of course, on BTG, it’s not just about chart success or song brilliance. Many a times it’s about giving singles overlooked their deserved nostaglic spotlight! Thanks Paul!
Another great post Paul. Well done.
Thanks for this one! Still have my vinyl copy around somewhere. But as I’ve said before… your transfers always sound SO much better than mine… 🙂
Hey Paul – GREAT choice! I remember this song back in the day – have it on vinyl. Was odd for Paul McCartney to have such a dance/club song. Was big in Montreal in the clubs.
I appreciate you want to bring new life to abandoned music paul, but i must say that if i was Paul McCartney i definitely wouldnt be proud of this song 🙂
Great post!
Thanks Paul
You’re welcome Piotrvladimir 🙂
Great post Paul !
Please keep posting more Paul Mc Cartney Mixes!
Greetings from Rosario, Argentina!!! Love your carefully well done job !
Greetings Klausrosario. Please say hello to Argentina for me 🙂
I was introduced to this track via the Disconet remix service. Surprised to find that this housey track was by Paul McCartney. Great choice, Paul.
You’re welcome Gianni. I always thoght this sounded like a track from Duran Duran’s “Big Thing” album.
Excellent track Paul. I have the 3 inch CD single with the happy ‘soleil’ digipack cover. Always liked the song.
Thank you Stefano. Sounds like a cool 3 Inch single 🙂
Love it. Paul do you have the 12″ versions of Only Love Remains, Pretty Little Head and No More Lonely Nights also by McCartney ?
Thank you Omar. Sorry I don’t have those singles at the moment.
gooood choice!!!!
Thank you Cdman 🙂
