BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1980
Our Daughters Wedding was an American synthpop trio from New York, consisting of Layne Rico on synthesizer, Keith Silva on vocals and keyboards, and Scott Simon on bass-synth and saxophone. The group took their name from a section of greeting cards.
In 1980, they released the internationally successful “Lawnchairs”. It peaked at #49 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1981. They toured with other bands of the day including U2, Duran Duran, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Iggy Pop, The Psychedelic Furs and frequently appeared on MTV as guest hosts. Their television resume also included various shows on BBC Television.

Hi DjPaulT,please reupload Mick Jagger – Ruthless People (US 12″),thanks,keep up the good work!!!!
Digging your last 2 offerings. Glad you’re on your feet again… Joe
Thank you Mothloop 🙂
Paul,
So happy you’re back. I missed you terribly! Please take care of yourself as I do worry about you. Thanks for this song! I always let people know that “Lawnchairs” is the definition of New Wave in my opinion. Great track and greater vinyl rip. Amazing stuff you do Paul. Amazing stuff!
Jeff
Thank you Jeff I appreciate your comment. I also agree this track is one of the best New Wave classics.
Hi Paul, I found an unusual 80s song that you might not know.
It’s by Jimmy and The Boys “Product Of Your Mind”.

I’ve been buying a lot of coloured vinyl lately, saw this, didn’t know what it was and looked it up on YouTube, it’s kind of catchy. 🙂
Interesting Wolfie. Thanks for exposing me to it 🙂
Hey there
I have the UK 12″ vinyl
A Side:
1: Lawnchairs (Original Version)
2: Airline
B Side:
Lawnchairs (Dance Club Version)
I can transfer to mp3 if you like?
I saw them in concert before their LP came out — yes, that long ago — and they were an excellent live band. (BTW, I think the dance mix version of “Lawnchairs” was what appeared on their album; a remade version with live drums, but more of less the same “design” as this version. I had the 12″ but it’s been lost along the way.)
Thanks for the info VanceMan. Enjoy!
Sound much like OMD. I think I don’t recall this song.
Nice you ‘discovered’ the 7 inches. But please only post rare 7 inch mixes, because there are tons of 12 inches in your archive still to get the rip treatment 🙂
And of course we’d better not forget the re-rips of dead links or previous inferior OM10 or OM20 rips, haha!
Specifically, like “Messages”!
Now I’ve actually listened to it I’m thinking more Ultravox, you know.
Very English sounding but awesome. Totally forgot about this band. Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar. Enjoy!
Looking forward to hearing this release.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior 🙂
I love this song. Thanks for the great share of your transfer, Paul!
You’re welcome Tim 🙂
I have no idea what this is but it looks awesome! 😀
Was there no 12″ for it DJPaul?
Maybe you should continue your emerging trend and post a whole week of 7″s??? :O
Yes there is a 12″ Jermajesty it includes a 3:18 Dance Mix but it’s extremely hard to find. I once had anaversion to ripping 7″ singles but I am getting over that and really starting to love them 🙂
