Burning The Ground Exclusive 1995
“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” is a Christmas song written by Johnny Marks and originally recorded by Brenda Lee in 1958; it has since been recorded by numerous other music artists. By the song’s 50th anniversary in 2008, Lee’s original version had sold over 25 million copies around the world with the 4th most digital downloads sold of any Christmas single.
In 1995 British singer Nicki French covered the song with a euro-House production by Mike Stock, and Matt Aitken of SAW. The track was recorded at Union St. London and remixed by Peter Day. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” was only issued in the UK as a white label 12″ promo.
This one did not have any cover art so I put together a custom sleeve.

I´ve always found this version too speedy. Play it at 88% speed (with pitch correction of course) and it gets much nicer, to my ears that is.

S-A-W (or in this case, Saw-Aitken) always seem to be on a major caffeine high (or something else). Sometimes it fits the song, other times they could tone it down a bit like you’ve shown and do a holiday song justice.

I’m always quite amazed of how many Christmas cover songs there are and the diversity of the performers. I’m looking forward to this cover version. If it’s as good as her “Total Eclipse of the Heart” I will include it on my holiday playlists this year and in the future.
