Midnight Star – No Parking (On The Dance Floor) (Remix) (Germany 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985

Celebrating BLACK HISTORY MONTH

“No Parking (On the Dance Floor)” is the 1983 title track from Midnight Star’s fourth and most successful album, No Parking on the Dance Floor. In the US, the song reached number 43 on the R&B chart, number 44 on the dance chart, and number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song has been sampled by several artists since its 1983 release, including Sugar Ray’s song from 2003, “Mr. Bartender (It’s So Easy)”. The basic melody was sampled by the Bar-Kays in their 1984 hit “Freakshow on the Dance Floor” and in Popula Demand’s 1988 song “Don’t Clock Me”.

In 1985 a special 12″ was released in Germany which included new remixes of “No Parking On The Dance Floor”, and “Planetary Invasion”.

This is one of “those” records where I think I might remember it when I hear it, but I can’t be sure. So naturally, I’ve got to give it a listen, right?

Thanks again, PaulT.

Ha, what a coincidence. I bought 3 LPs (incl. No Parking On The Dancefloor) of Midnight Star on ebay last week for 3€ (condition NM) and this 12″ remix was on my list.
Thx Paul.
I’ll digitize them tomorrow…

Man oh man this takes me back to Jr High & High School when breakdancing was huge! Such a disappointment when their anniversary collection only had an edit and a short remix of this song! It needs to be 12” length always!!! Thx!

You’re really taking me back Paul!! This song was huge during my college years and brings back fond memories. Such fun and crazy times. I feel very sentimental!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! The same to you, everyone in Cyberspace!! Dance your butts off to Paul’s rips!!
