BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“Gremlins…Mega Madness” is a 1984 single by American musician and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Michael Sembello. The song is featured on the soundtrack for the film “Gremlins” starring Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Corey Feldman. “Gremlins…Mega Madness” was released as a single in the US, Europe and Japan but failed to chart.
This US 7″ promo contains the same track on both sides and is issued in a picture sleeve. According to the back of the sleeve a 12″ Extended Dance Remix was supposed to be released however to the best of my knowledge Geffen Records shelved the project.

Hey Paul. I just looked on Discogs, and there is a 12 inch Import from Holland, but it’s the same version as the US 45,but is fronted by Peter Gabriel’s “Out Out”. Maybe Geffen couldn’t get a Dance Mix they thought was usable?
Hi George I have already posted “Out Out”

You can really pick ’em Paul!! I love this song. I remember hearing it on the radio a few times and I bought the soundtrack cassette too. Thanks for clearing up for me about the dance mix; I waited for it, but nothing materialized. Too bad, as I bet it would be fantastic. I wish Mr. Sembello’s songs took off. Of course there was “Maniac” from Flashdance and his other big one, “Automatic Man” which was a great club hit (wish I had that 12-inch!)along with a few others, but nothing really came out for a long lasting career. Thanks… Read more »
Thank you kindly Jeff I appreciate your feedback so very much. Like you I waited for a 12″ for this track as well but nothing. Maybe a 12″ could have helped this track to chart especially on the dance chart. Mr. Sembello never did really take off for some reason. I love doing the Gabriel 12″ last year it is one of my favorite’s. Thank you for all of your insight into these tracks 🙂
Another nice one! Someday I hope somebody releases the official recording of Sembello’s “Rock Until You Drop” from Monster Squad.
thanks!!
Also really loved Michael Sembello “Gravity” from the movie cocoon (also off his without walls cd)
More soundtrack songs – hooray! Gremlins is still a fun movie to watch every now and then. Thanks for the rip 🙂
You’re welcome Woz 🙂
