Marsha Raven – I Like Plastic (Canada 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1982

“I Like Plastic” is the 1982 debut single by American Hi-NRG singer Marsha Raven released on Red Bus Records. Marsha Raven came into show business as a Tina Turner imitator. After recording “I Like Plastic” she scored her only Billboard dance hit with “Catch Me (I’m Falling In Love)” on Passion Records, produced by hot shot dance producer Ian Anthony Stephens. Okay, I admit… I’ve never heard this song before, and I’m not downloading ‘cuz I try to limit what I use of Paul’s bandwidth.
But just going by the title… my brain almost immediately started singing “I Like Plastic” to the tune of “I Want Candy…” and this girl just will NOT use paper bags at the grocery store, do you hear me? 🙂
And it’s not even all that late yet… (sigh)

Yes Paul, it’s been a great week for some new discoveries. Like Daniel, I’ll be making my weekly DjPaulT compilation of the past week’s tracks. I love going old school and making “mix tape” CD’s. They sound so delicious. I also want to step deep into your archive of edit-heavy dub mixes for an “Attack of the Killer B-Sides” compilation for myself and a friend. There’s such great consistency with your rips going way back too. I never have to worry about the levels since you always create a steady volume level. Never brick-walled, but not so soft either. Thanks Paul. These songs are new to me. I liked her “Catch me (I’m falling in love). This was a fantastic week. I made a great discovery with “Vitamin Z” and especially yesterday’s post “Avalanche” was so amazing. I can never thank you enough for everything you do. Have a great weekend. My weekend will be fine, listening to my brand new CD compilation of DjPaulT’s hot 12″ rips 🙂
