YES PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE Paul !!!

Is there any chance of you uploading Marilyn’s 12 inch “Pray For That Sunshine with the FAB B-side “I Ain’t Been Licked”? Just Brilliant !!!

If you ever have the chance, I hope you’ll share the “Pray For That Sunshine” 12-inch, too. I was disappointed Marilyn chose to omit ALL versions of that song, as well as it’s awesome b-side (his cover of Diana Ross’ “I Ain’t Been Licked”), from the Despite Straight Lines reissue.

Hi Paul

Please help! I can’t extract the files because I don’t know what the password is?
And I Love “Raining Again”!

Many thanks, Carl

Thanks Paul, love this.

I too was surprised this was omitted from the CD re-issue in favour of multiple mixes of “Calling Your Name” & “Cry And Be Free”.

More surprisingly – even though it was one of his better tracks – they left the fifth single “Pray For That Sunshine” off the re-issue altogether . By the way, the 12inch of PFTS also included his non-album track “I Aint Been Licked” which was originally recorded by his idol (as Ric correctly points out above) Diana Ross!

Thanks for your re-rip, Paul.
No doubt, Marilyn’s singles don’t have #1 screaming all over it, still I think they deserve more than #31, #40 and #70 for his 2nd, 3rd and 4th singles.
The British press was extremely harsh on Marilyn, and it’s one of his reasons for trying to break into the US market in 1985, enlisting Don Was’s help for the single Baby You Left Me In The Cold.
If I remember right, he also met his idol Diana Ross then.

I didn’t realise they were as low as that.

He did indeed meet Di Ross – I had this fabulous 8×10 press photo of her with her arms around both Marilyn and Boy, but again I stupidly gave it to my mate without scanning it in first! Never seen it again.

Think it must’ve been the same day this one was taken:

Nice tune. Thanks.

The normal 1000×1000 back and front album art seems to be missing from the MP3 RAR archive I downloaded though and there’s only the Folder.jpg file.

Paul, please help: I am having a problem downloading the new (former) MARILYN.

I’ve checked out everything on my computer, and all appears to be OK.

But,when I click the mp3 button to download, NOTHING HAPPENS.

The usual dialog box just never apears.

I’ve rebooted…scanned for errors… even opened hotfile before trying to download.

I am SO THRILLED and EXCITED at the speed you responded to our requests,
and now,
I can NOT enjoy the fruits of your labor. Any ideas?

Hate to be controversial, but I just don’t think he had the greatest of songs. Sure they were good/OK, but they didn’t have Number One written all over them like a lot of DoA and Culture Club songs.

Not saying I’m not enjoying these uploads though.

I don’t suppose you’ve got Tasty Tim’s dreadful Sugar Sugar have you DJPaulT? There was an also-ran if ever there was one! In a fit of stupidly I gave mine away to my mate. :-/

A special thank you for this one Paul. Your storage isn’t that far away, I see:) Hope the BTG’ers will enjoy this one, even if it wasn’t a hit in the US. Marilyn released some great singles back then. Yesterday we were treated with his first single. Today his third single from 1984, here presented in its fantastic 12 inch dance mix. One of my all time favorite 12 inches of the 80’s. With his fourth single ‘Baby You Left Me’ he tried to conquer the US in 1985. I really don’t understand why this didn’t work out. It was… Read more »
