Jody Watley – What’cha Gonna Do For Me (UK 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989

Originally posted July 7, 2010

“What’cha Gonna Do For Me” would have been the fifth single taken from the LP “Larger Than Life”, unfortunately the song only made it to the promo stage. Written and produced by André Cymone with remix by Louil Silas Jr. and additional production by Jeff Lorber. “The song also appeared in an edited remix version on the Jody Watley remix album “You Wanna Dance With Me?”. This 12″ promo contains the full un-edited remix and has never apeared on CD.

The b-side is mispressed and plays the “Bassapella” twice. I have left it that way to to keep the integrity of the original vinyl release.

I would say it is the untitled remix which was repeated on side B, and we are missing the actual bassapella. Bassapella/Percapella mixes are usually much more sparse.

Paul, I love it when you remaster an older post because you really must have felt it needed it. We are all so fortunate to have you do this unselfish thing for us. Again, I feel so blessed to have fallen onto your wonderful site in Cyber-Space. I can’t begin to describe all the pleasure I derive from you and the music you post. And this music runs the gamut from the entire spectrum of dance music. You’re this musical prism that refracts light into a sonic rainbow. You are light in everyway! And that heart of yours is beautiful.… Read more »

Woah! What a groovy track! Superb mixes, for sure it would have been a club hit!
Excellent sounding rip! Another pearl found on BTG!

Paul, how did you resolve the 24 bit flac issue?

I disagree. This is Paul’s blog and he can post any song or viewpoint he likes. Anyone can skip over the posts they don’t like or not come here again. If Paul starts down that path, then he will have to start entertaining requests to take down songs that are “too sexual”, “atheist”, etc.

Hi Paul, As always thanks for your hard work and detail over the years. And thanks for this rip 🙂 I sensed Friday’s rip was voicing your political view and didn’t comment, having read the comments I was pleased to read some, but not all. But I’ll not cast my opinion as I live in the UK and we are experiencing quiet a change, as you know. This is a wonderful music site, you have uploaded so many lost tracks for me, thank you. But please let’s leave the politics for forums, Facebook, Twitter, whatever, but not here, let The… Read more »
