J. Geils Band – Fright Night (Netherlands 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

A. Front

Re-Rip Newly Remastered

Originally I posted the US 7″ on August 22, 2011. Since that time I obtained the Netherlands 12″ which sounds much better. I decided since it is the Halloween season that I would rip the 12″ and post it. I am also posting this track in 24 bit flac for the very first time.

“Fright Night” is the theme song from the 1985 film of the same name performed by American rock group J. Geils Band. The song reached #91 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1985. After the single release the group then disbanded.

The b-side “Boppin’ Tonight” is performed by the Fabulous Fontaines and is also featured in the film and on the very hard to find original soundtrack.

The movie is an American vampire comedy horror film directed by Tom Holland and starring William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, Stephen Geoffreys and Roddy McDowall. The film was orginally released on August 2, 1985.

Just recently found out there is a Japanese promo-only Long Version (also called the Runt Mix).

https://www.discogs.com/release/15535435-J-Geils-Band-Fright-Night?ev=item-vc

Not cheap! In that same rare category as the Japanese 12″ promo-only “Mr. Roboto” dance mixes, the two MC Hammer “U Can’t Touch This” promos with Japan only remixes, and the Japanese promo remix of Take That “It Only Takes A Minute” by I.S.D.

The covers and the audio/sound are better than the previous release (US 7″Private Rec.). I’ll keep both. 😀

Grateful!

Hope you find out soon. The medical community needs a serious shot of ‘hurry the heck up’. Both my wife and father-in-law are going through issues, and they have the same problem.

LOVE THE POST!! Thank you.

So happy that you’re bringing your original posts “back from the dead” so to speak. I so much enjoyed the original Fright Night movie and this is another perfect example of you finding the perfect songs and moods to fit the Halloween spirit of things. I can’t wait to hear your rip.

Again, hope you’re feeling better.

All my best,

Jeff
