BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984

Re-Rip Newly Remastered!

Originally I posted this one on June 30, 2011. But for those who may have missed it or if you are a new reader just discovering BTG. I decided to give this one a new rip with my newer Ortofon Super 30 stylus. This 12″ is also being posted in 24 bit flac for the very first time!

“Original Sin” is a hit single by Australian rock group INXS released in 1984 on their fourth album The Swing. It was written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss, and produced by Nile Rodgers.

It was released as a single in the U.S. in December 1983, where it reached No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984. In Australia, it reached No. 1 in 1984., and became an international hit during that year.

Singer Daryl Hall sings the chorus along with Hutchence. According to an interview done in Australia, Hall says Nile Rodgers called him up and asked him to sing on the song. Rodgers had produced the song “Adult Education” for Hall and Oates the previous year.

The music video was set in Japan and features INXS singing the song arriving on motorbikes, as a fairground is set up and taken down around them, all brought in and removed with large trucks.

Dream of White Boy….Dream of Black Girl…
I was really surprised that this didn’t crack the US Top 40 back in 1984. I think the InXS engine only went into first gear with What You Need the following year before the whirlwind that was Kick.
Thanks for another InXS record, Paul…do I smell another megapost? lol!

Hi Paul! Just to inform you that Firefox freezes badly while trying to download the flac file of Original Sin (originalsin16.rar). After clicking on the flac button, the window for the pass pops up as usual, but after entering the username and pass, nothing happens and Firefox freezes and won’t shut down for minutes. Never had any similar problems on your blog, or even anywhere else. Win7, Firefox 28.0 (always have the newest version installed). But then I downloaded another file first, onethingmp, entering username and pass without problems, then clicked on the originalsin16 button, since the user and pass… Read more »

Shabooh Doobah Dooo!!! 🙂 Thank you so much Paul. I was hoping we would see this song one of these days. My prayers have been heard sooner than I thought.

I suppose this US extended version or LP version is the same as the European ‘Long Version? Both run approximately 6:22

Thanks again. You’re the best!!!
