Follow Me was used as a theme song on an Italian TV programme, hence its release as a single.
Thank you for this! AFAIK it’s not available on CD only the short version and a non-LP track, thanks again 🙂
Thanks Paul. Great production on this one, but a little to ‘square’for me. As if they were trying to get in the adult-contemporary charts, in contrast with Body Talk, I mean. Hope to see more of the obscure instrumental b-sides, too. The original artwork is a nice bonus (”just” – hah!).
It’s always a pleasure to hear when you find that kind of gems !
Thanks a lot for this !
For people who like 12ers, there is that french 3CDs compilation :
http://www.discogs.com/Imagination-Greatest-Hits/release/5909930
It contains most of their 12″ from 1981 to 1986, even if this particular Italian 12″ is not in !
I second that, check out this compilation, with some great mixes, especially the DJ friendly Just An Illusion (Correct Claps Mix)!
Saw these a few times back in that decade we all love. So camp and Leee would always get people out of the audience and up on stage so I always made sure I never had front row seats!
Probably was released in Italy only ’cause an Italian producer remixed it, but google want find me who exactly the remixer is, so it’s pure speculation, and Follow Me is a good song but a little to weak for a single, just compare it to Changes which has the typical Imagination sound. It’s a common thing that some very popular European artist or club tracks never were so big in the US or vice-versa, but others became worldwide classics. Imagination very pretty big in whole of Europe. Sad that, it was sometimes very bizarre DJing in the 80s when I… Read more »
I recognize that feeling with a complete sound as well. Those gangnamstyle-keyboards were hot around 2001 but, now, almost the complete pop-and-dance charts are full of it.
Thanks Paul for another Imagination treat. As mentioned earlier, the only Imagination song I knew was their “Just An Illusion” record. Thanks for expanding my education to this wonderful band. You always aim to please.
Jeff
Thank you Jeff hope you had a nice holiday 🙂
I had a very nice holiday and thank you Paul. I hope you did the same. A lot of it was spent listening to the awesome music from you website. Yours is a gift that keeps on giving. A blessing of joy and excitement. It’s beyond,…BEYOND!!!
Jeff
Jeff – are you saying you’ve never heard Body Talk??!!
It’s the *sexiest* song ever written!
Go find it on YouTube and I promise it’ll get you and whoever else happens to be nearby in the mood.
I also posted it a few weeks ago 🙂
Ah yes… with that awesome instrumental on the b-side.
Actually Jermajesty, it’s because of Paul that I know “Body Talk” and you are definitely right, it is so sexy. I love music that drips sex like this track. I mean, love making has it’s own rhythm in and of itself, but it’s really an orgasmic experience when there is a soundtrack that enhances all those “pelvic percussions” of skin on skin, and…well, you get the picture. I’m just so happy that Paul is schooling me to bands that I know little of their discographies. DjPaulT is a wunderkind and we are all better off because of him and his… Read more »
Ooh, maybe you should try out Neneh Cherry’s instrumental of I got You Under My Skin (I’d set it to loop, if you have company) 😉
Paul i have no words to say how happy you made me seeing you posted this wonderful maxi-single!
And i am even more happy now that i’ve listened to it!!
What a marvellous rip you did (but that’s no surprise).
Imagination are among my favourite artists, and i really hope you will find the time and possibility to make some other posts with their fantastic 12” singles.
The US edition of Changes, in particular, is at the top of my preferences, with an exclusive instrumental version on the b-side:

Thank you Peter glad you are enjoying this record 🙂
Cool to see another post by Imagination.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior 🙂
Many thanks Paul,
Imagination-sound was unique in the early 80s!
…
another great track as “sigla Discoring” (1985) from Italy
was “Our revolution/We just” by Moses.
Hope you got it.
Love and devotion for DJPaul!
Enjoy! BE.D12”:)
I always liked this group because of their dress style. 😉
Wow, what a treat, I didn’t know this existed. How odd that they should release it in one country only? How did they decide that this track was just what the Italians had been wanting all this time?
Or I wonder if something particular to Italy influenced them to release it?
I like them too Jermajesty because they were so creative and fun. I’d love to know the answer to those questions too 🙂
Italy seemed to be a testmarket for the music-industry (including its minions and bimbo-esque trainings for young singers). I wonder why. Really.
Thanks Paul for this. Love Imagination.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
Thank you Paul. This is my favorite band!
You’re welcome Richard F. 🙂
Always liked this group, despite their dress styles!
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Ex15 I thought they were very ceative in the way they dressed 🙂
