I am incredibly proud to have worked on the Olivia Newton-John “If Not For You” Deluxe Edition celebrating the 50th Anniversary of her 1971 Debut album. I worked on four of the six previously unreleased tracks on the Deluxe Edition CD. I spent several days and hours meticulously working on the vinyl transfer and audio restoration of those four tracks. All four are taken from original fifty-year-old 7″ vinyl acetates. Considering the age and limitations of vinyl acetates I think the tracks turned out great. I can’t wait for everyone to hear them. Working on preserving Olivia’s legacy has been an honor. Below are the four tracks I worked on.
- Round and Round
- The Biggest Clown (Alternate Version)
- Game Of Love
- Would You Follow Me (Alternate Version)
Special thanks to Vinny Vero for this opportunity to work on this and further projects. In addition, I would like to thank James Roy who took the time to send me the acetates or else these songs would have been lost forever.

Yeah my deluxe edition just arrived and I’m so happy to see the Toomorrow tracks are on there! Can’t wait to listen!
Amazing to see your passion and skill recognized in this way. What an incredible way to be a part of ONJ legacy. ♥️
Fantastic! Pre-order placed. Can’t wait to listen to the additional material. As always, a big thank you to you.
Congrats Paul. I know her music is in good hands, as those acetates have a finite amount of good plays, thanks to you those songs will live on and sound good. Fond memories of her early music, I have recently been listening to the Japanese Twin Deluxe Now comp that compiled a lot of her early material from this era, perhaps one of the most dynamic CD’s in my collection, mastered, like experimental classical music.
LOVE IT! Knowing the affection and knowledge you have of her music – and how much the entire world loved her and wants to hear these reissues – I am so glad you have been involved in this project.
It’s fantastic Paul that you’ve been remastering Olivia Newton-John “If Not For You”. Your vinyl masterings have been excellent, plus it’s great listening to these lost classics, as some tracks (B-Sides, Remixes) never make it to CD etc when re-released.
Welcome back Paul!!! And what glorious news you shared with us. I’m still thinking about you every day since Olivia’s passing. I’m just so happy that you got to work on this because of your love for her and her music. I’m going to pre-order this right now!!
Jeff

What a pleasant surprise to finally see her first album (and catalog) treated properly. This album went out of print after “If Not For You” was such a big hit for us in D/FW as a #1 AC-easy listening hit – her first big US success. Sadly, her 2nd album Olivia wasn’t even released here in the original form. Paul, did you have issues sourcing her original masters? So many Uni/MCA artists lost theirs in the 2008 USH fire. I hope hers were stored safely elsewhere as test pressing acetates don’t always sound that good.
No problems with the masters Olivia did not lose any in that fire. She owned her masters and they were stored somewhere else. They are in a bit of a mess things are just not being labeled correctly etc.
I thought Olivia’s masters, before she got them back, were mostly kept in the EMI vaults in England, and a few in a vault somewhere in Australia (where Festival Records was based). About the only questionable ones are her selections (all of Side ONJ and the B Sides of “Fool Country” and “You Made Me Love You”) from the Xanadu soundtrack, since there were two record companies that had the rights (MCA in America and Jet/CBS in other parts of the world). And I’m not sure Jeff Lynne wants the ELO side and their sole B Side, “Drum Dreams”, remastered… Read more »
Well, to tell you the truth when you announce3d the next project I was secretly hoping for either ( or both, let’s be honest, both) ‘The Rumor’/”Totally Hot” because I’m an 80’s boy, and all those extended dubs you have posted are just crying for a full remaster, I hope these will happen someday
but this one is a neat accomplishment non the less!
I’m also looking forward to those 2 releases!
I don’t know this album but pre=ordered on amazon Canada
Thank you!
Wow, neat!
Congratulations Paul!! There’s no one more deserving than you for this project!
Wow! How awesome! I was wondering where they would go next after Physical! Will be ordering this gem immediately! Thanks for your work on these projects!
Congratulations!! They chose the best for those transfers!! Purchased!
Good to see the reissues continuing! This is a real gem in Olivia’s catalog, and one not many casual fans know about. I’m guessing this is following the Festival Records release, as far as the track listing, correct?
It features 29 tracks! the original 12-track LP plus seventeen bonus tracks. Including six previously unreleased tracks. Available on 2 CD Deluxe edition 180 Gram Vinyl and Digital Download.
Great project and i will order the CD when it’s out. I’m very curious about those acetates, could you please post some pictures? Would be great to see them 🙂
Very nice to see Vinny asked you to help out with his ONJ reissue project. Good for you (and for us).
Thanks for your hard work, I’m assuming the master tapes have been long gone missing. Can’t wait to hear them and the other two.
Original Master Tapes were used except for the four acetate tracks that I worked on.
Dear Peter,
May your efforts and great talent find you peace. I could picture ONJ’s smile whenever I heard her.
Wow, thank you. From one ONJ fan to another. You always do an excellent job. Take care.
I’m glad to see you working on official releases, all your transfers sound great.
This is breathtaking in its beauty, Paul. It’s as if a faded Michelangelo had been restored by a modern-day master – which is you. The beauty, elegance and simplicity of these classic and rare tracks has been brought back in all of its original beauty.
Olivia would certainly be proud.
