BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“Talk To Me (I Can Hear You Now)” is the 1984 debut single by short lived eighties group Iam Siam. Despite a ground breaking music video and heavy rotation from MTV, this incredible tribal pop anthem failed to connect with the masses. Iam Siam was not so much a band as a studio project. Mainly the brainchild of Stefan Vienna (Steven Weiner) who wrote most of the lyrics, Iam Siam also included Brian Rothschild songwriter, producer David Sonenberg and Larry Fast (of Synergy fame). The group only released one album titled “She Went Pop” before falling into obscurity.

I grew up with new wave/synth pop, and it was the only – as in THE only – music I listened to all through my teen years in the 80s…and I have never heard this before today !!!
How could I have missed this – it absolutely mesmerizing – thank you so much.
Thanks. We did not get all the music from around the world in Latin America and I am so sorry I just discovered this on. It is such a great song. Thanks for sharing. Now it is on heavy rotation. I hope I can find more of their music. You really bring out great memories with known classics and these great tunes new to some of us. You rock.
One of my favs from the 80’s! Great choice, thanks Paul!!
Thanks for ripping this one! I have a very beat up copy that sure would not suffice for recording or reproducing images. Another great 80’s release that should have got more attention!
Love this song (and I loved their whole LP as well). Thanks for posting this one.
Love it!
Thanks Paul 🙂
I haven’t listened to this in a little bit. I forgot how cool even the sleeve art is. Thanks for the great quality rip… it’s quite an upgrade from the copy I had!
You’re welcome Mothloop 🙂
LOVE IT! Started with the “Album Mix” and from the second it started I just knew it was gonna be fab!
Great to hear Wolfie. Enjoy!
What a great song. Thanks for the rip, DJPT, it sounds fab 🙂
You’re welcome Woz 🙂
I can’t wait to get home and hear this. Something tells me it’s just what I need.
Thank you!
You’re welcome Ezequiel 🙂
Thanks Paul – never heard of this but I love Chris Lord Alge! Looking forward to howling along lol
Hopefully i’ll be able to hear you howling all the way down in Oklahoma Wolfie 🙂 Let me know what you think my friend 🙂
This looks interesting and extremely promising Paul. Thanks for the schooling on obscure/forgotten 12-inch gems. I can’t wait for this one and I’ll check out the video too. You’re the tops Paul!!!
Jeff
Just saw the official video and….WHOA…..AWESOME!! This is extraordinary Paul. I’m so glad you gave us the dance and dub mix!! I feel like I’m under the song’s spell. Great imagery in the video and such a tribal sound. Thanks for always sharing the choicest and coolest tunes with us. Man, they don’t seem to write them this way anymore. The 80’s was and will always be my favorite decade for music, especially in the dance/rock/alternative/New Wave 12-inch mix and remix. Paul, it’s tracks like this that really release the dopamine levels in my brain. A BILLION THANKS!!!
Jeff
Very cool Jeff. I was blown away by the video such innovation. It got lots of MTV rotaion so I was surprised that it did not chart anywhere. They must have spent their entire budget on the production even the record sleeve. Glad that you are digging it 🙂
Nice one Paul. Much to my surprise. Thanks!
You’re welcome Stefano I hope nore people investigate it and like it 🙂
I will try to locate the full length LP as well. Just purchased it through Qobuz but had to cancel the purchase since it turned out their flacs where lossy sourced.
Paddy, do you mean in general at Qobuz or just this specific title?
That’s called a “transcode” they probably converted an mp3 to flac which is not good. In any case I already have the full album on vinyl it’s worth checking out.
The whole album is good!
This was a nice find, never heard of them. The song has stood the time I must say.
Thanks Paddy. Enjoy!
Thanks Paul for this obscure new wave gem. Love it!
You’re welcome Omar. One of my favorites 🙂
