So just for fun, I am curious how everyone listens to what you grab from Burning The Ground. Do you listen with your dad’s old Fisher rack stereo system or maybe your boombox? Or maybe your phone with AirPods or a thumb drive in the car. Whatever way you listen, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
I convert to ALAC and listen with an iPod touch or Nano in the car and out and about!
On an old Powerbook 3400 from 1996 running system 9which is also used for recording dj mixes on the analog inputs.

The Tesla sound system loves FLAC files – I have a 1/2 Terabyte drive & they sound amazing.
Hello Paul. Currently, I upload the files to my iTunes account and transfer them to my Apple Music playlists. I usually listen in my car playing off my iPhone. Sometimes with my AirPods Pro when I’m doing things outside. While I’m at home, I’ll play through bluetooth off my phone to my Sony receiver and Klipsch speakers if I want it really loud, ha-ha
Cool thread! I listen to these songs from my laptop when I work (and I don’t have meetings) connected to my wireless Edifier speakers which offer a nice deep textured sound. I get transported! Thanks Paul for all the music!
In my car through my iPod Touch, as I’ve got about an hour’s drive each way to/from work everyday. Thank you again, Paul, for all the sharing!

Hello Paul, how are you? Over here it’s okay. I like to DJ on my computer. I use the Mixxx open source software on Ubuntu Linux, with headphones, as I live in an apartment and need to respect the environment and not disturb the neighbors with loud music. I also like to listen on my smartphone playlist. Eventually I record some mixed sets and add them to my smartphone playlist. Thank you for sharing your music with us. Stay well and a big hug from Brazil.
Usually on my computer or on my iPhone–either through headphones or through my Yamaha stereo.

Laptop connected to Aux-in on hi-fi. 🙂
In my studio, and sometimes I play it during my live dj sets.
On my iPod Touch! I’m an iPod devotee who must always have all 1 billion of his favorite songs with him!
In a Gradiente System One ( a Brazilian Vintage audio system forn 1978 ) and record in reel tapes with Akai GX625
First I retag and rename the 16/44.1 FLACs and put them in my own archive with the artwork only (no other files) for archival, unless I don’t like any of the songs at all or already have better copies of them. I then make a copy of just the selected FLACs I personally enjoy, and put those in my listening library, which is a very personal and complex folder tree I’ve been curating for 25 years. This library contains mostly FLACs but also some lossy files from various sources, much of it my own CD & vinyl rips. Quite often,… Read more »
Through Roon at home (with extended tags added to the files) and the occasional add to my iCloud Music library.
I use the pc , the mobo has an ESS SABRE DAC and I use Aiwa sx770 speakers powered by a sony xplod xm1004 , I bought some ath m50x , totally disappointing , the right one sounds lower than the left one , something that with the shure 240a did not happen to me , in short I like the sound more analytical than warm because I like to manage the bass and treble according to my preferences.
hi
i ear your music using various stuff. with a good media player with a decent DAC, in ear or in my car, or using a thumb drive on my sony UHD player and my yamaha set up…
I enjoy your rips via roon over a NAD M10 V2 with Wharfedale Linton Speakers and a Klipsch SW where it’s needed. Or in the car via usb stick.
roon
I stream the music from my NAS primarily to my homepod in my kitchen, as I like to make food to the sound of the 80’s. If I am in the mood for party, I use my studio set-up where I get the 24bit experience (active Adam speakers).
I love the 80s maxi singles and listen to them wherever I can am an absolute fan of this decade and I never miss a day to listen to them via my system or to parties via my DJ booth or in the car via a well-stocked USB stick with many lovely greetings Oj
Usually I convert to MP3 (two folders, one at 320kbps and another 224kbps)…. I listen via PC (Winamp and fair Altec Speakers w/Sub)…also I have a 5 small speaker Sony player in my shop w/sub, and Pioneer player in my Truck w/sub that I use the lower quality recordings. Nothing fancy, but that is how I roll. I don’t own a smart phone or even an MP3 player so I can’t listen while mowing the lawn unless I borrow the kids stuff. When nobody is home, I get to turn it up some, but my days of 1500 watt car… Read more »
Save the files to my NAS and stream (via Roon) to either my Sonos speakers or Bluesound Node (connected to a Stereo Amp).
I play the flac file in Windows PC using VLC with a pairs of Edifier Multimedia Speakers.
I also play the music in car using Kenwood player via USB drive.
I play the 12inch on a macbook pro connected to a Pioneer DDJ1000 or I also usually record them to cd and listen to them on a Pioneer CDJ1000mk3
flac on a 2012 macbook Pro with SSD, connected with 2 pioneer plx-1000 and Phase essential, and a mixer. Amp + speakers + sub (JBL)
Flac gets archived on a back-up drive, along with VBR MP3s. I typically compress the MP3s by 3db or so.
The MP3s then get copied to my main PC, and the thumb drive for my car.
VLC Media Player and Foobar2000 Player and Use a Flac mp3 player.
PC, Winamp, Technics RP-DJ 1200… on this old stereo from my father! Thank u… from Brasil.
Interesting topic! Exciting to read how other people enjoy their music. I mostly play music on my PC with VLC Media Player and my ESI Juli soundcard. When I sit at my desk (what happens most of the time), I use my Yamaha HS80 studio monitors, driven by a Denon DRA-1500 Pre-amplifier. This is what I also use while “cleaning” my own vinyl transfers. If it needs to be a little louder, I send the music to my good old 90’s Yamaha Hifi system AX-890 with EQ-550, CDX-570 and KX-690 (yes, a cassette deck!). My speakers are Magnat Vector 77,… Read more »
PC, Winamp+SA Stereo Tool plugin, Roister speakers 2.1 or Sennheiser HD600 headphones
iTunes beaming to Nakamichi receiver/Misson speakers. Or when working – iMac with wired Sony mini system.
I listen in two DAPs, a Sony WM1Z and Cowon Plenue L with Inear Prophile 8 and DUNU 4001 IEMs
I usually listen on the laptop with Sennheizer HD26headphone.
Or on the go, on a talking mp3 player for blind; cause I’m blind; generally same headphone.
Sometimes too on my Ipod Touch 256 GB because I have nice 80’s treasures library on it.
Most of the time I listen using headphones connected through a DAC/amp to my PC. If I’m alone, I will listen through speakers.
For certain tracks, I’ll convert the FLACs to MP3 and put them on a memory stick in my car.
PC > Topping E30 DAC > Mackie Big Knob Passive > Kali LP6 monitors
or PC > Topping E30 DAC > Drop THX 789 amp > Sennheiser 6xx headphones
or sometimes Pixel Buds Pro on the go 😉
Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones connected to the smartphone using BSPlayerPro
Multiple ways of course!
1) iPod Video (bootstrapped with a custom OS that plays FLAC) hooked to an 80’s Kenwood rack stereo system using the iPod dock and remote.
2) iPhone with Shure SE215 earbuds (320kbps CBR)
3) USB thumb drives in the cars (320kbps CBR)
4) iPod Nano 7 with Shure SE215’s on the motorcycles (192kbps VBR)
Hi Paul.
So I listen to them on my computer with my headphones, I’m happy for the wonderful work you do and I listen to old songs that left history in our time like an old dj that I am. Thank you.
Sony nw-a55l hd player into Adam studio monitors. and in car. best site Ive found to help replace a few of hundreds of 80s 12″ s I lost 20 years ago. sadly didn’t discover it soon enough to get the 24 bit version of Huey lewis power of love, my fav tune.
Dear Paul,
First, happy new year.
I use a Oppo player with Denon integrated AV and Klipsch speakers.
Best regards
