How Burning The Ground Works

He everyone,

Just a friendly reminder to subscribe to Burning The Ground so you don’t miss any new posts. I often receive emails asking why older posts are no longer available. The reason is simple: my hosting service doesn’t have the space to keep every file online indefinitely. To make room for new uploads, I have to remove older ones.

I do try to revisit and re-transfer older posts when possible, but with BTG now going on sixteen years, the archive is huge. Some readers ask if I can send them older posts directly, and while I truly appreciate the interest, I honestly don’t have the time to do that. BTG already takes up much of my free time—and I also need to balance life outside the site.

Another important reason to subscribe is the 24-bit posts. These are only available for seven days, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Going forward, I’ll generally be posting three to four times a week, depending on the size of the project I’m working on. Some records take longer than others due to the number of mixes and the condition of the source material. I don’t use any automatic click-removal software—every waveform is examined and cleaned manually, which can be very time-consuming.

I also have a private life, so there may be occasional days when I don’t post due to personal plans.

I’m really excited about the coming year. There’s still so much I want to work on, and I’m incredibly grateful to have you all along for the journey.

Rhythm Is The Power.

Thank you, Paul, for all your incredible work and dedication! I appreciate it more than you know! Stay blessed, my brother. I am looking for Touch produced by John Rocca. I lost a massive collection of my 80’s 12″ collection to a fire years back, and I’m slowly rebuilding.

p.s.: still hoping you will surprise us with those Depeche Vinyls we discussed this year.

Happy New Year ! During the last three decades I did ripping to digital, every now-and then using excellent PC hardware. From software point of view my preference was manual correction, following my ears, partially my eyes. I have a close idea what level of perserverance is required. Deep bow ! Is it allowed hear to mention that I may be of some help for a few members when they are after some older BTG upload ? I ask you Paul in first place. Perhaps this has been discussed earlier. Delete my present message if you disgree, please. Goodwill and… Read more »

I do manual click and pop removal, too. I did one song from a pretty decent 7-inch and before I knew it, 3 hours passed. Still wasn’t done.
Having focus on a project will mess with you. Take out a lot of time for yourself.

Paul – what do you mean by “I also have a private life”? lol You sir are our collective lifeline to an era that now only exists in cherished memories! Doing your talented magic to curate, preserve and document the important history of 12” mixes and by extension 80’s club nightlife in it’s entirety. You obviously love what you do and enhanced our lives in the process… bravo!!! 👏👏👏 BTW – the last week of January 2026 marks the unbelievable 45th anniversary of the release of my very first bootleg record “1981 Top Tune Medley”! It would be awesome if… Read more »

Happy New Year to PaulT and the entire BTG community!

My computer has gone on strike since before Christmas, so pardon my lack of attendance.

I’ll be lurking from time to time until negotiations can persuade my
Muff-Diving Computer to return to active daily service.

Until then, party on!
