I recently got the Go West Super Deluxe Edition, and there on the rarities disc is ‘Call Me (The Longer Indiscriminate Mix)’, so ANOTHER mix to add to the Go West Confustion!!
Thanks for this and the US version too. I heard about how it’s supposed to sound like it’s playing in a kitchen sink but it seems like it just runs a little longer than the other mix. Still nice to have this version.
I thought I had all the Go West stuff on vinyl and once again, you find something ‘new’ to amaze me. I have a UK 12″ for this labeled as GOWX1 but it’s just the regular Indiscriminate Mix and the same cover as the US edition. Now I have to hunt this one down – thanks!
Can u post omar santana remix of level 42 with the edits that he Can’t get credits also sweet sensation take it while its hot (hot dub by the diamond 2 charlie dee and omar santana) 2 dub mixes by the diamond 2 please? And re up just the facts by patti now please
Go West are without doubt the perfect pop group!
Everything they do is pure quality.
I have been luckily enough to meet them many times as they are very attentive to fans! They are both so very nice and take time to chat and answer questions.
Hopefully we’ll see more of these awesome vinyl rips as their music deserves to be heard.
Whoops! I just noticed they are not identical! The first 1m30 are and then the two versions differ. I have to check this in more detail. On my German edition with with “Indiscriminate” (6.39) on the A-Side and “Kitchen Sink” (6.33!!) on the flipside the mixes are identical.
Funny how you notice things for the first time after 35 years…
In the longer kitchen sink mix there is the the instrumental version of the chorus at 1.33
followed by the drum break and vocal chorus at 1.56. That´s an additional 22 seconds compared to the indiscriminate mix where this part is missing. The drum break plus vocal chorus comes in at 1.33 already. Phew, I´m glad I got that off my chest and will be able to sleep tonight haha.
Nerds, ey?! 😉
I liked and do still like “We Close Our Eyes” very much but “Call Me” blew me away and it was my first of seven Go West 12-Inches. The bassline! The awesome bassline in the instrumental parts! Goodness, the volume of my system goes up on its own 😉 They hat great flipsides too like “Eye To Eye” on this one or the marvellous “SOS” and “Missing Persons”. And what´s with the odd mix names? “horizontal”, “perpendicular”, “indiscriminate” and so forth? I love those oddities. And as some of our friends here pointed out: there´s no difference between “indiscriminate” and… Read more »
Hello my friends, I know this is off topic but I wanted to mention the passing of Moon Martin last May 11. He was a great artist and his music always sounded to me like an unique new wave and pop country mixture. He composed for others as well being his more famous, “Bad Case Of Lovin’ You” recorded by Robert Palmer.
Not much to add to the already great comments. The rip is pristine like all of your rips, Paul – great work!
It’s funny the music video features Peter and Richard as the only dirty people in the video. They’re strangely smudged with dirt while everyone else is clean, nicely coiffed and gleefully jumping and flying indiscriminately through the air. Great song from a great time. Cheers, Paul!
Hi Paul, I am unfamiliar with this track. Thank you for sharing. I am really liking it. As always, your rip is absolutely pristine. Will be jamming this! THANKS!
Hi Paul, Glad to see a rare single from Go West here. I have all their releases also, and they were quite popular for their first album, with 4 singles from it. This is also one of my favorite songs from them, along with ‘We Close Our Eyes’. This mix was one of the limited edition versions, and although I can’t really tell, it is supposed to be a different equalization of the mix compared to the standard 12 inch mix. Here in America we got a double A-side 12 inch, with mixes on both sides, but different ones that… Read more »
My US copy has “Call Me (The Indiscriminate mix)” backed with “We Close Our Eyes (Complete Underhang Mix)”. It seems like the mixes for “Call Me” sound the same to my ears. They really seemed to mess up the 12″ mixes for the first two single releases.
Fun fact: According to Discogs, the US version of Call Me (The Indiscriminate Mix) is 28 seconds shorter than the UK version of this mix (a section is edited out as opposed to an early fade).
Paul,
Don’t get me started.. too late. I bought 5 different versions of the Call Me Single and
2 of We Close Our Eyes.
The We Close our Eyes, had 2 mixes but 3 names : Overhang mix, overhang dub, and underhang mix.
Call me had : Indiscriminate mix, and the Kitchen sink mix
Have the US, UK, New Zealand, Australian, and Spanish one
(which also had a misprint for a mix that didn’t exist – SOS raid mix).
I ripped all of them, and can’t tell if there are really any differences
in the Kitchen Sink mix.

My heart just skipped a beat when I saw this posted. I love this record even more than “We Close Our Eyes” Paul. I was praying that someday you’d get to this one. How monumental! I’m in ecstasy right now. Many.,many kudos for this track!
Jeff
Thanks a million, Jeff 🙂
Thanks Paul. We Love you. Best 12″ Go West ever.
You’re welcome. Omar, I love you guys too 🙂
