Giorgio Moroder With Philip Oakey – Together In Electric Dreams (German 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984

A. Front

“Together in Electric Dreams” is a song by the British singer and composer Philip Oakey, lead singer of the electronic band The Human League and Italian producer Giorgio Moroder. It was written by Oakey and Moroder and recorded for the original soundtrack of the 1984 film Electric Dreams.

It later formed part of the joint album Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder, released in 1985. Released as a single in the UK in September 1984 it proved a major commercial success, actually eclipsing the original film it was intended to promote. It reached No.3 in the UK Singles Chart, staying in the charts for 13 weeks. In the US the single reached #20 on the Billboard dance chart.

Great 12” again! I wish Culture Club had released their two contributions for this album – they would have made great extended versions

My favourite single off this soundtrack!
A well-deserved hit for the duo, especially for Phil Oakey, since none of the three Human League singles made the UK Top 10 that year.
It was also great that Giorgio Moroder scored two UK Top 5’s with two different singers for two different movies!

I just love the whole marketing idea back then to keep to a consistent theme in the design of the singles released from this amazing soundtrack. Life was as colourful back then… 😉

Thank you Paul…. these were some great years of music….Electric Dreams was awesome!

Hey I have a request. I thought I would write it here snice I have limited access here at work…. There was a promo 12″ from Thompson Twins from the movie Cool World called “play with me (Jane).” There was a remix on there that I have not been able to find. Unfortunately my copy got warpped in the sun for whatever reason. do you have that?

It was a dancy mix of that song. I believe it was the inside track, and it was pretty much an instrumental dance mix. The cover was a bright orange and it had promo only all over it. Once my copy warpped, I never found it again. 🙁
