I am super excited to tell you all about a project that I helped work on over the summer with Vinny Vero. Many of my followers over the years know that I am a huge Olivia Newton-John fan. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of her groundbreaking hit LP PHYSICAL! The album is getting a Newly Remastered Deluxe 2CD/DVD re-issue, which will be the first time the album has been remastered in the USA. I was so excited when Vinny contacted me and asked if I would help work on this project. Of course, I said yes! I will also be working with him on some future projects as well.
This deluxe 31-track CD & DVD edition not only features the original hit album fully remastered, but also features bonus tracks, remixes, and live recordings. Many recordings are on CD for the first time! In addition, the DVD will feature the iconic pop star’s two video collections. The first is the Physical video album – which won the Grammy Award for Long-Form Video Album of the Year and showcases music videos for each of the album’s timeless tracks. The video album of Physical was the first of its kind. The second is the full 1981 “Olivia: Live in Concert”, which is a Grammy-nominated television special that features exclusive heart-pumping footage of the star performing her hits.
PHYSICAL DELUXE EDITION will be released on October 22.

WOWZA, received my copy today and am thrilled this re-issue is so thorough and the liner notes are beyond amazing! Olivia has needed a re-issue campaign in the states so badly, and I hope this leads to more deluxe editions! The aqua green variant is supposed to be available at Urban oUtfitters that is all I really know at the moment.

Just wish that the Landslide (Video Mix) was on the CD – I love the little intro that only exists on this version (as far as I know)… maybe you know different? But if not, I’ll do a new rip from the DVD and save the audio. 😉

Congratulations, Paul! I know how much Olivia’s music has meant to you over the years. I still have some of your lovingly ripped Olivia 12″ vinyl mixes in my Itunes collection. I’m so excited about Olivia’s back catalogue getting the love and attention it deserves and I’m can’t wait for the Physical 2cd and dvd set. I’m wondering if you know where they’re going next? Wow, that is very cool Paul. I’m glad that your knowledge is being used in a project like this, honestly I have often wondered it your page is used as a research tool for discovering lost songs/mixes. If you say the CD sounds amazing I really trust your ears. I hope that you do more work like this in the future. I remember back in the day hearing a radio concert by Olivia for this tour, I wonder if it is the same concert as the video. I will have to get this one… so many memories here.
Awesome…hope this is the start for Olivia getting the deluxe edition treatment. Hope Totally Hot, Soul Kiss, and The Rumour are next.
My only gripe is I wish the full live concert was on audio disc as well.
The concert may be something that is in the works for a future stand-alone release. Nothing confirmed yet though.
Big congrats to you!!! Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to get with these deluxe editions – but knowing that you were involved means this will be an early Christmas gift from me to me!!!

Congratulations. They couldn’t have picked a better version for this project. Maybe now you can do proper remixes since the original source is available? I was worried all those masters of Olivia were burned in the 2008 Universal fire. There is a remix to I Need Love MHP Club Mix with additionals adlibs i never heard before. Is this official or did this creator have access to the source tape and created this version? Looking forward to Soul Kiss and the Rumour album to get remastered. Thank You for your hard work
None of Olivia’s tapes were affected by the fire. the MHP Club Mix is fan-made I think some multi-tracks were leaked at some point.
This brought a really big smile when I saw your post! I’m so glad that record label folks recognize your knowledge and authority in this area. I hope you get involved with lots more projects like this. In the meantime, looking forward to this release!! It originally came out when I was in the 9th grade, and I associate these songs with running track and cross country meets with these songs in my head 🙂

The extended version of Physical was also released in Mexico, which I was very disappointed with it since it was just the song all over again, my favorite remix of the song is the Floor Filler.
ONJ forever! My brothers used to give me grief about Xanadu and I liked it even more.
Magic is the theme song and she is forever marvelous.

I have met Olivia but not during this project my official role is Research Assistant to Vinny Vero who has a pretty big resume to his credit. Some of the artwork are scans that I did as well as research for compiling the tracks etc.
I’ve been waiting for a re-issue of this for a long time! Target also has this available for pre-order on pink vinyl.
There are going to be four vinyl variants at different retailers, Target, Wal-Mart. Amazon, Urban Outfitters all come with an exclusive poster. The vinyl will be released in May 2022.

Congratulations Paul. I wonder if that Apple TV+ show of the same name increased interest in ONJ? Maybe your involvement will free Vinny up to finish off the Wang Chung catalog reissues.
