BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1982
REQUEST
“This Is the House” was Eurythmics’ third single, recorded in 1982 on their own 8-track home studio in north London, built with a personal bank loan from group member David A. Stewart’s bank manager rather than record company support. Although the following year it was included on the group’s hugely successful Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) album, the single itself was a commercial flop, failing to chart. No music video was made for the single.
The recordings were produced by Stewart and Adam Williams, ex-bassist of 2 Tone Records band The Selecter. They showcased a new sound and direction from the group, focusing on synthesizers and drum machines as opposed to the psychedelic guitar-based band sound of their In the Garden album.
The 12 inch single featured an extended remix of the track, plus four songs recorded on Eurythmics 1982 tour. This extended mix, plus the live version of “Your Time Will Come”, were omitted from SonyBMG’s 2005 remaster package, and remain unavailable on CD.
| Special note about the live tracks: There is some distortion that is due to the original mastering. This distortion can also be heard on the 2005 CD remaster of “In The Garden”. I made every attempt to clean this up but some noise is still present. I also seperated each live track into seperate files because they are banded into seperate tracks on the 12″. The tracks will however flow together when played all at once. |

Thanks so much for posting this. This is one of my favorite, prized 12″ singles. And this will definitely be the best this record can sound. I remember finding this rarity in the shops….too many years ago. Years ago, I even transferred this one for myself digitally and found the recording to have a lot of distortion and some grainy sound. I have two copies of this one. Both copies have some distortion on the live tracks especially 4/4 In Leather it’s also present on the CD so it must be in the master.
NO RA this is my own rip just finished it this morning. One thing you can ALWAYS be sure of is that I only post my own rips. It’s very easy to compare the wave forms in Audition or other editing software to make sure. I got several requests for this one and “The Walk” which I plan to post tomorrow.

Thank you. I never liked the early stuff . For me the story began with “Love is a stranger”. But i’ll give this one a go and will try again. What i really loved was the Stewart/Lennox-Project before the Eurythmics, called “The Tourists”. Really great Powerpop/New Wave Rock. “So good to be back home” was on heavy rotation back in the days.
