Erasure – Supernature (Ltd. Edition UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989

R E Q U E S T

“Supernature” is a cover version of Cerrone’s 1977 environmental anthem. The song, also previously recorded by Lene Lovich, led to a collaboration between Erasure and Lovich for the song “Rage”, which later appeared on a PETA benefit album. Erasure’s recording was remixed by severa different remixers and became a popular hit in dance clubs. The song originally appeared as one of two b-side’s for the 1989 single “You Surround Me”.

In the UK “Supernature” was released as a double A side Limited Edition 12″. This single features the rare “Extra “Limited” Remix” of “You Surround Me” as well as two remixes of “Supernature”. None of the remixes have mix titles on the sleeve or labels.

Hello Paul! I have almost all european vinyls of Erasure, from the start to end of 2005; this is a rare and nice disc and pleasure to see it in other people’s collection too. Keep up this amazing website; we need you and your work !!!

The Innocents and Wild are my two most favourite Erasure albums.
Thanks for this single, Paul. The snowflake design is perfect for this release as it was Erasure’s Christmas single in 1989. They had scored big Christmas ’88 with their Crackers International EP but this one only peaked at #15.
It still takes me back to Christmas ’89, with festive releases by Band Aid II, Madonna, Soul II Soul and Dusty Springfield.
And to think that Christmas is just over two months away! Time sure flies!

When these remixes were released in the EBX3 box in 1999, they were remastered with a moderate but noticeable cut in the dynamic range, as is typical for the Loudness War era. It’s great to finally hear these tracks in their original glory. If it weren’t the middle of the night, I’d be cranking it on my stereo instead of in headphones.

Excellent choice again! And great work!
Hey Paul, if you ever come across these hits, it would be great to post them: The Belle Stars – Iko Iko, Heart – These Dreams, Steve Winwood – The Finer Things. Heard some great mixes of these songs before but they seem to only be on vinyl. Can’t find them.

This is one of my favorite sleeves. The die-cut design is beautiful.
Plus this features great mixes.
Great post Paul

Indeed. While they did get released on CD, it was only in one of the (also out of print) Erasure “EBX” singles box sets.
