BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“Soul Kind of Feeling” was a single released in September 1984 by Australian soul music group Dynamic Hepnotics from their album Take You Higher. It was their highest charting hit, which appeared on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart in October 1984 and peaked at No. 5. In 1986, “Soul Kind of Feeling” won the APRA Music Award for ‘Most Performed Australasian Popular Work’.
“Soul Kind of Feeling” was written by lead singer, Robert Susz. The 12-inch single version, “Soul Kind of Feeling (12″ Hepno Mix)” was remixed and extended from the earlier 7-inch single. Both were issued on Mushroom Records’ White Label Records.
The song featured prominently in the background in Australian soap opera Neighbours until the early nineties. The song was also performed in an episode of Home and Away by Dan Baker (Tim Campbell), at the reception of his wedding to Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou).

Hello Paul!
Thank-you for sharing this good old tune in a quality format. Just a question… while playing side A track there is a skip @ 2m31s – Is that intentional because it’s on both 16 & 24bit files?
Cheers!
Thanks Paul for another great Aussie song.
Wow….. This song is well known to any Aussie growing up in the 80’s.
I’d never heard the 12″ mix of it until now and it’s pretty terrific 🙂

Thanks Paul. Another great earlier track by the Dynamic Hypnotics is ‘Hepnobeat’
I don’t have that one Brett been trying to track down a copy though 🙂
Paul You Legend! I guess you got my email. Thanks so much for finding it. Haven’t heard the 12″ of this in such a long time.
Greg.
I was glad to get your email Greg and happy to see someone was interested in this wonderful 12″ which is one of my favorites 🙂
Great post. Love me some Continental Rob and the Dynamic Hepnotics.
Thank you Joe!
Hi Paul,
This is a wondrous surprise on your always wondrous site!
I’m from Australia, and bought the equally cool follow-up 12″, ‘Gotta Be Wrong’, back in the day – have you heard it?
Mark Z
I have heard it Mark but I never bought it when it was released maybe I will try to find a copy 🙂
This was a nice surprise today. Thanks Paul. Great to see some Australian 12”ers in your collection.
I love Australia and Australian music!
New as well for me too Paul. But, that’s why I love you as you’re introducing me to things that mean very much to you. Thank you so much.
Jeff
I really like these tracks and I hope that you will too. Please let me know what you think 🙂
I really enjoyed these tracks Paul. The summery feel of the main track is like a musical holiday. Thanks again for introducing me to some of your favorites.
Jeff
Totally new to me too. I’m listening to the A Side now and it’s really laid back. I could see us kicking it at a house party and groovin’ to it 🙂 Thanks!
You’re welcome Woz I love throwing these obscure track to you guys. Glad you like it 🙂
Hi Paul, I’ll check it out. Never heard of them (it isn’t rare in me!).
Hugs
I think you will like it Ezequiel. I hope others will too 🙂
