Hey Paul do you have the 7″ or the album version of this song? I feel like it’s just as hard to find, as its only available on some import compilations

WOW thanks for this! I never have heard such a clear version of this extended mix. Would be GREAT ir you could post the European “Hot Stuff” 12″ (this has add libs not on the US 12″), The US and Euro “Unconditional Love” 12″es (the US one has a edit of the 12″ mix of SWHFTM as B-Side, the Euro 12″ has a “Unconditional Love” Instrumental), the US 7″ of “The Woman In Me” for the Single mix, the Euro 12″ for “Stop, Look & Listen” for the Remix, the Euro 12″ for “She Works Hard For The Money” for… Read more »

thanks paul for another brilliant rip and upload. i’m a huge admirer of your work.
there is in fact another even longer unedited version of walk away. according to one of many donna summer-sites, it was first avaialble on cd on this compilation, http://www.allmusic.com/album/lets-start-the-dance-vol-2-mw0000206171, and it clocks in at about 8.30. however if that was the debut on cd, it means that there must’ve been another promo circulating at the time. i’ve been looking everywhere to find it. however, i do have the cd-rip of the long-long version, so just let me know if you want it.
best regards,
micke

I could never understand why they put a label on it that says “Loaned for Promotion”. Does the record label really want a used record back? What could they possibly use it for?? LOL!

Happy Weekend, Paul!
Yes this sure was eclipsed by Last Dance, and I don’t know why it’s edited too on the CD, space constraint?
Anyhow that doesn’t matter now coz we have your rip!
Thanks for bringing us all these Hot Stuff on this Summer trip!

Oh, Paul!! 🙂 how I like that soundtrack “Thanks God It’s Friday”! So many great songs there: Diana’s “Lovin’, Livin’ and Givin'”, “Love Masterpiece” by Thelma Houston, “Too Hot Ta Trot” by The Commodores and Donna’s tracks “With Your Love”, “Je t’aime… moi non plus” and “Last Dance”! G-r-e-a-t!
Thanks a lot dear Paul for this new surprise to us!

Many thanks to you Paul for the flawless rip. This is truly a treasure in 24flac. I have always liked this song, and I think it should have been a much bigger hit, but it was totally eclipsed by the massive success of “Last Dance”. I did a re-work of this track and threw in some samples, anyone can come and listen to it on my blog. If you like my edit/remix, drop me a note and I’ll send you the link to download it.

This unedited mix is available on a great CD called Disco Discography. Thanks for sharing one of Donna’s best regardless!

It’s on Disco Discography but I wouldn’t call it a great CD personally. The selection was all overly familiar stuff, with a few moderately rare tracks but they suck. I paid over $15 for it and aside from “With Your Love” the only other tracks I like are the 12″ versions of “Heaven Must’ve Sent You” and “This Time Baby” which I already had for years along with most disco collectors. To me it felt like the collection had been slapped together knowing Donna fans would pay an exorbitant price for a Giorgio Moroder produced rarity making its CD debut.

Well, they weren’t overly familiar to me although I have been told they are well known. I loved every single track on the album so to me it was a great compilation.

If you have any of the other “Thank God, It’s Friday” promo mixes to share, that would be very cool. Very few of them have been available and I believe the bulk of the original double-and-a-half album was issued as a series of promos.

omg! yay thank you so much for this. this song is so underrated and one of my favorites of her 70’s output. i couldn’t for the life of me understand why this was edited down on the dance collection. Especially since that release actually had great sound quality.
