BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
“Axel F” is the electronic instrumental theme from the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop originally performed by Harold Faltermeyer.
For this rather odd bootleg 12″ The “Axel F” mixes are credited to one “Det Reirruc” which is actually Ted Currier spelled backward, Currier was a New York City radio jockey, first with WKTU for two years then for two years with WBLS. Thereafter he started to work for EMI/Liberty Records. He also launched the Studio 92 / 92KTU dance parties, based on radio tapes using station’s compressors and levels specifics for the mixes.
Ted Currier was the direct inspiration to Shep Pettibone’s “Master Mix” tapes. Ted Currier went on to become a producer and songwriter working on George Clinton’s immortal “Atomic Dog”, and producing hits for Sly Fox, the Boogie Boys, Sweet Sensation, and Tony Terry.
“Axel F” also features the legendary 80s remix crew The Latin Rascals, who are given an “edited by” credit on the label.
The b-side is a rap tune about the career of Eddie Murphy by the unknown group Club’s Rappers.

I have this 12″ but the label is different, the artist is named “Eddie’s Rascals” but with only 2 mixes. Look forward to hearing this new mixes, I am sure they are different than what is on the one I have. Thanks!
OOOOOO – think I dig this more than the original Faltermeyer extended mix. Love that fab pre-Sledgehammer/Enigma Shakuhachi! And the stereo mix is wondrous. Thank you. Mwah.
Thanks Paul, in my opinion this is the best Axel F. Mix out there. My copy is totally worn out, your transfer is as usual prestine and greatly appreciated. Thanks as well for the information on “Det Reirruc” which was completly new to me.
Stefan
I don’t think I remember these versions, but they rock!
Cheers Paul 🙂
Cheers! Marco 🙂
PAUL!!!!!!!!! I am floored! I’m (almost) speechless too, but I have to comment about this post. I am literally having an orgasm right now with my underwear just soaked. To finally have this record from you is a most precious gift. It’s been years since I have heard it but it’s still one of my ultimate favorites!
I can’t thank you enough Paul.
Hugs and kisses!!!!!!
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff enjoy 🙂
