Literally the only thing missing from this is the 12″ promo version of the song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnxfnMqzLe0

It’s the only version of the song I’ve never found anywhere.

This is a late, late feedback to ALL your Debbie Gibson post and I apologize for this but All of them are amazing!! I was so hoping back then that she’d release ‘Play the Field’ not only as a single but maxi-single with remixes. I would’ve loved to her a Pettibone or Jellybean remix of that song. But oh well… 😉

Sometimes pop music is just fun – and it might not be to everyone’s taste but this put a smile on my face that will last all day. And Ms Gibson is actually music history, being the youngest person (still) to write, produce and perform a number one hit (Foolish Beat)… Check out her most recent work with Big Black Delta where she features as a vocalist on a track called RCVR. It’s epic 🙂
Oh and thanks Mr DjPaul 😀

Great, post Paul. I remember buying this 12″ when Debbie was on her upward trajectory – such a fun time in pop music. Love the great mixes – appreciate the excellent rip. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you for reminding me, maybe a few others of when exactly the music industry started tanking.

What’s next, the complete N.W.A. gang bangers infiltrates the music industry collection in 24-96?

Modernaire, let’s keep the hate out of the forums. Please respect our excellent curator, and the fans that like the artist/material he posts. Like them or not, this girl actually wrote and co-produced these songs when she was sixteen, and shared the 1989 ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award with Bruce Springsteen when she was 19. Part of the beauty of Paul’s work on this site for me is the sheer scope of his catalog. There’s something for every fan of the Awesome 80s.

Modernaire…Including myself, there are a ton of ex-djs and avid music collectors that come here daily to take a trip back in time as well as to find excellent mixes that (very sadly) were never released on cd. This site is basically aimed at 80s music that was remixed. You don’t mention what artists you want to hear nor what you supposedly snail mailed DJ Paul years ago…but my bet is you are not going to find Dokken 12″s here. Contrary to what you may believe, Debbie Gibson was huge for a few years in the mid 80s in the… Read more »

It really is amazing how many spoiled, self-entitled children there are on the internet, isn’t it… 🙂

I was gonna reply to Modernaire, but you said pretty much everything I was gonna say, so I’ll just add a “what ^ he ^ said” here, and leave it at that. 🙂

I seldom read the comments but had to stop and read this one. Most ofte, I simply stop by and say a Big Thank You to Dj PaulT for all the hard work and time he takes to share a part of his world to all of us. This response is all kinds of awesomeness and I definitely share the same sentiments. This statement “There are a few artists/songs that I have no interest on this site simply because I had never heard of them back in the day. But I don’t come here complaining that Paul posted artist ______… Read more »

It’s a detriment to pop culture to preserve Debby Gibson amongst several others… plus I sent a box full of mint rare records to DJPaul a couple of years ago… stuff that costs me and worth a bit of money… haven’t seen ONE ripped yet.

Holy Bonus Beats, Batman! Yes, Robin! 🙂

Thank you once again, Paul! One of my favorite parts of deejaying and enjoying 12″ singles in the 80s was the dubs and the bonus beats…not to mention the “_____apellas” that so many artists got creative in titling.

And I can’t say enough about Latin Rascals’ work!!!! Maybe we will see some of Omar’s work on the group Sweet Sensation on your website soon!

I sense a Tiffany post or 2 coming this week. 🙂

Thank you so much again!!

I’m all for Omar Santana’s work too Fred. Paul has posted a few things Omar has done which are incredible. I can’t thank Paul enough for his continued effort to bring all of our favorites out for us to re-live over again in high definition audio!! He’s perfect!!

Wow Paul, I had no idea the Latin Rascals edited this track by Debbie!! I’m very excited. I don’t care what some people may say about Debbie Gibson, I still really like her. She did write here own music and became a Broadway performer too. And anyone who knew her at the time thought she was a total sweetheart and professional in everything she did. Thank you for LOVING so many different types of music Paul. I am a big alternative music fan, but I love disco and pop too. There’s room for all of these genres and more. I’m… Read more »
