BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
“Get Outta Town” (a.k.a. “Fletch, Get Outta Town”) is a song by American musician-singer-songwriter Dan Hartman, released as a single in 1985 from the original motion picture soundtrack for the film Fletch. It was written by Hartman and Charlie Midnight and was produced by Hartman and Richard Landis.
After Hartman’s international success with “I Can Dream About You”, along with the same-titled album released in 1984, it seemed that Hartman would continue gaining hit singles, especially after the album spawned another two American Top 40 singles “We Are the Young” and “Second Nature”. However, when “Get Outta Town” was released, the single failed to make an impact in America or Europe. It was not a major success in the UK either, although it did manage to enter the Top 100 at #99 for a single week (16 November 1985). This was despite a UK re-issue of “I Can Dream About You” entering the Top 10 only a month before. Hartman wouldn’t make another appearance in the UK charts as a solo artist again until 1995 with “Keep the Fire Burnin'”.

Thank you VERY much, Paul!!!! The B-side is awesome and I am so happy you were able to post this awesome 12″! Thank you so much again. You made my month!
It was my pleasure Fred I have been wanting to post this for a couple of years now but somehow just never did. I am happy that I finally got to it. Enjoy! 🙂
Wow Paul! I was hoping that one day you would post this beautiful single and here it is. If I’m not wrong, the whole 4 mixes are exclusive and have never been released on CD or digitally. I love Dan Hartman. “I can dream about you” is my favorite by him and it’s great to get these M&M mixes. The Chris Lord-Alge mixes are big fun too. Your rip sounds fantastic as always. Once more you totally blow me away with your post. Thanks a million Paul, my everlasting hero 🙂
You’re welcome, Daniel. Dan Hartman is one of my very favorite artists it’s a shame his catalog has been overlooked. I love that I can bring some of it back to life. 🙂
Woooow gracias Pault
De Nada, Carlos 🙂
🙂 Always loved the M&M mix of “I Can Dream About You”.
Dan Hartman was such a talented guy. Left us much too soon.
He is missed very much 🙂
Thanks for the second Fletch posting Paul! This should have been a bigger hit for Dan… Love it!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound 🙂
WOW. Every time you give us some Fletch goodies, there are 5 friends I call and we freak out. Thanks! Love that “I Can Dream” is expanded on side 2. Like a double A-side.
That is so cool Jon 🙂
