I know this one but I was surprised that so many other BTG readers do too. I assumed it was probably only really played on Southern Ontario/Western New York regional FM stations. A cool pick that I haven’t heard in a while!

Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God!

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this tune Paul.
I was wondering if my requests were getting to you. I’m glad this one did! It’s an absolutely awesome tune. You rarely hear a singer with such conviction.

Hi Paul,

Thanks so much for this. She also brings some backing vocals to Nena’s Feuer und Flamme/ It’s all in the game album. Also I’ve read that she made the translation of the whole album into English.

Please, please if you have the single “Talk to me”- 12″ I’ll be very greatful, I love the extended version. Another great song from “She”.

Thanks again!

Thanks to this post I was able to track down (at last!) a video I saw once on an 80s music programme, All I could remember was the hairstyle, a possible Canadian connection, a slow motion freeze frame effect, and a very, very slight resemblance to a Laurie Anderson and Kate Bush type of track. As soon as I saw this post I thought, could that be the singer I’ve searched for? Turns out it is, and the video is for ‘Gonna Get Close To You’ so thank you DJPaul for helping to solve a decades-old mystery!

Glad to see you’re back and fit and well Paul.

Funnily enough, I got ill a few days after your last post and was knocked out all last week too. Don’t know if I caught it off BTG. 😉

I don’t know this track at all, but in the write up when it mentions working with John Taylor, did he play on this?

Oh Paul, I’m so glad you’re back today, hopefully feeling much better. I’m really excited to hear this 12-inch. I know the song from the 9 1/2 Weeks soundtrack, but I always get really jazzed to find out that there’s a 12-inch extended version. That soundtrack was one of my all-time favorites. I’ll have to break it out again and listen for nostalgia’s sake.

Have a wonderful day and week Paul!!

Seriously Paul, I almost forgot how great this song is. I love the imagery and the lyrics and the way the lines are delivered. Smoldering!! And the 12-inch takes it a step up. Again, thanks for surprising me with such phenomenal records. It is beyond anything I could think of. You are a master DjPaulT. Many, many…MANY THANKS!!!

Jeff

I disagree on the niceness of the lyrics in combination with sexual tension.
“..a virginal trembling hand
a frightened sacrificial lamb
from a blinding light a shadow falls
a code of silence quakes the halls
a whisper to a peircing scream..”
.
I do agree on the production and great vibe, but really, since i listened closely and looked it up, i am not comfortable anymore with it..
