Burning The Ground Exclusive 1982
“You’re Not So Hot” is a Disco single released by American singer Carol Douglas whose hit “Doctor’s Orders” (1974) was a pioneering track in the disco genre.
In 1983, Carol moved to Paris and signed with Carrere Records releasing her sixth album (and last one to date) “I Got Your Body”, renamed “Love Zone” in the US which failed to make any impact on the charts. “You’re Not So Hot” was the second single taken from that LP reaching #71 in France.

One interesting tidbit is that the mixer of this release, Jonathan Fearing, went on to mix many of the NYC electro funk legends Newcleus many hits such as Jam On It, Computer Age, Automan etc. Also he mixed the Dynamic Breaker track Dynamic, which is one of the classic b-boy tracks from 1984 that was heavily caned by DJs on all the late night FM-radio mastermix shows back then. Those Newcleus dub mixes are exceptional and still sound as fresh today as they did back in the mid 80s. Sadly he passed away shortly after that. RIP Mr Fearing.
Mr. Fearing was a great up-and-coming remixer. He died in 1985 from complications of Bone Marrow cancer.
I just want to leave a comment to say how much I enjoy your “Disco Friday” post and more importantly for introducing me to this song. I don’t have many of Carol Douglas’s songs especially this one, and I must say that I love this a lot. If the term deep cuts applies to disco music, I would consider this a deep disco cut. Thank you so much, Paul.
Deep cuts certainly applies to Disco music, Chad. I am really happy that you enjoy DISCO FRIDAY I was wondering if it is something that you guys want me to continue with. Thank you for the feedback. 🙂
Yes. I would definitely would like you to continue your DISCO FRIDAY posts. It’s a way for me to discover more music in this genre.
I must comment on this track again since I’ve heard it in all its 12-inch glory. This record is so good, and I can’t understand why it wasn’t more popular like it should have deserved. It is a phenomenal piece of music. I love these post-disco records because they shaped my listening habits early on.
Again, thank you, Paul!!
Jeff

Massive thanks for yesterday’s Associates’ record and for the slamming “So Hort Your Cool” 12-inch by General Public. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude!! Same to you, Jeff. Your enthusiasm is infectious! Paul certainly gave us some good records to dance to this weekend!
You’re welcome, Jeff. I am shocked this track did not make it onto the US dance chart she was signed with Next Plateau Records in America. I hope you enjoy this one 🙂 Have a nice weekend.
