So this is not a cover of the Icicle Works track? Hmmm… Well that’s not a title I thought I’d ever see twice. Bobby O was a little before my time, but I have heard of him. Am I wrong, or didn’t he produce stuff for Divine?
On the topic of Bobby O: Did you ever listen to The Flirts, Paul? They had some excellent songs 😎
Yeah I like The Flirts I have one or two 12″ ers by them.
Thank you!
Can’t get enough of Claudja Barry. Her Boney M and solo stuff is awesome! She casts a spell on me 😉
All hail Bobby ”O”, King of Hi-NRG! So excited for the dub version of this! Speaking of exploiting sounds from other records, do you happen to have Barbi & The Kens 1980 EP (Mr. Orlando must have been a B-52’s fan)? The world would be a better place if a top quality rip were available. Jus’ askin’… thanks once again and cheers!
Oooh, so hoping someone would mention the Barbi & The Ken’s record. I love this and the B-52’s were definitely a huge influence. I love the break with the James Bond theme in there too. Mothloop, you’ve got excellent taste. I’m quite sure Paul knows this and if not, he’d flip for it.
Jeff
You know what they say about birds of a feather…
Those early Barbie and the Kens tracks are pretty good stuff. I really like “Falling In Love With Myself” too, which I think came many years later – not even sure it was the same band lineup as the original EP.
Don’t think I know this one (but the pressing on quality label Metronome should be perfect). I’m curious to find out.
The pressing is great Stefano 🙂
A Scary Themed Week?
Very Cool , Thanks !!
You’re welcome Jonathan 🙂
Yes, the song from Nightmare on Elm Street 2! Also, note the similarity of this song to Lime’s “Unexpected Lovers”. Thanks for the post.
I don’t remember this from the movie but now I want to watch it again! I had never heard ‘Unexpected Lovers’ before, but I checked it out and you are right, it is similar. Good ears!
Unexpected Lovers packed the dance floor back in the day
It is a great tune. I can see why it packed the dance floor! Can’t go wrong with Lime 😎
Always a thrill to check out the rare tracks I’ve never heard before. Thanks!
How cool are you Paul posting a song used in a horror film!! I’ve always been a fan of Mr. Bobby “O” but I don’t know this track. I almost thought it was a cover version of Icicle Works’ song. I’m so looking forward to hearing this. Mr. Orlando’s records were alway such fun.
Thanks Paul!!!
Jeff
You’re welcome Jeff. I first heard this one while watching Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. I loved it and had seek it out. Oddly the soundtrack did not feature any of the songs from the movie only score.
I hope that you love this one 🙂
You’re right Paul, I do love it. And like Gianni stated below it soooooo reminded me of “Unexpected Lovers” by Lime. Bobby Orlando was famous for exploiting sounds from other records, but still made the productions his own. This was so cool and disco-ish!! Takes me back to the Hi-NRG sound of the 1980’s.
