“I Feel Free” is a song first recorded by the British supergroup Cream. The songs lyrics were written by Pete Brown, its music was composed by Jack Bruce.

The song was covered by Belinda Carlisle in 1987 on her second solo album, Heaven on Earth, produced by Rick Nowels. It was the fourth single released from the album, only released in the United States. “I Feel Free” peaked at number 88 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The extended version of the song was used in the 1988 film License to Drive.

Funny how we were talking about this song on the “I Get Weak” thread and now a day later, here it is!! Although I like Belinda’s version of this song, I wasn’t too surprised it didn’t chart higher – it was pretty different from her three previous singles which were all radio friendly, whereas this one sounded kind of dark. I know I never heard it on the radio and the fact that it wasn’t released as a cassette single (which were starting to really take off at the time) like her past three singles probably didn’t help this song’s… Read more »
