BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988
“Put A Little Love in Your Heart” is a song originally performed in 1968 by Jackie DeShannon, who composed it with her brother, Randy Myers, and Jimmy Holiday.
In 1988 Annie Lennox and Al Green recorded a version that was released as the ending theme song to the 1988 film Scrooged. The song reached #9 in the USA on the Hot 100 in January 1989 and climbed all the way to #2 on the US Adult Contemporary chart, as well as becoming a top 40 hit in several countries worldwide. Outside of her Eurythmics band, it is Lennox’s most successful single.

Thank you for this, DJPaul – I *LOVE* the way so many older posts still work like magic!! Much appreciated!
This is perfect! I had this on vinyl and was looking for the digital versions! Paul, this lead me to you! :)!
And it’s almost, soon, Christmas!!!!!
Thanks Paul. I didn’t know this one existed as a 12″.
I’ve loved this remake for 25 years, and I’m a die-hard fan of 80’s 12″ mixes…and yet I had NO IDEA this extended version even existed. THANK YOU!! 🙂
Greetings from Greece/Athens!!! What a wondeful post this time of year my friend Paul!! I wish for u and your family and all of the people here HEALTH ABOVE ALL and have MERRIER CHRISTMAS!!!!
TAKE CARE!!!!
I remember this doing well in late ’88. Although not an outright Christmas song, it was from that Christmas movie and certainly has that Christmas cheer.
Ah, what a great time that was…1988…..
Thanks Paul for spreading more Christmas spirit here on the net!
Thanks for this seasonal rarity.
That extended mix (7″ Version with Edits) didn’t appear on the CD single – although it was listed as supposed to), making this an even rarer find in your super high quality standard, thanks 🙂
PS: you have listed it as (12″ Version with Edits) – the label disagrees with you – although at over 7mins it’s obviously an extended mix.
Hi JestaCat I think it is a misprint on the US 12″ it staes “12” Version With Edits” with same track time of 7:13.

Ha! I hadn’t seen that one – the mistake was probably on the UK 12″ 🙂
Yeah that was pretty common on viny. I only knew because I have the US Promo as well.
Wow! Thanks Paul! I had no idea a 12″ even existed for this song. I still have the cassette single. When I started collecting CD’s in the mid-90’s, I was looking for this song and soon realized it was out of print and not even on any compilations. I finally found the soundtrack in a used CD store a few years later, but the sound on it was obviously dated. The song did turn up several years later on Al Green’s 20th Century Masters disc, but I am really excited to now have these other versions that I never knew… Read more »
You’re very welcome Dan and Happy Holidays 🙂
Excellent song, many thanks Paul!
I take this opportunity to make you a question…
When you post a vinyl from Germany the title says “… (German 12″)”
But when you post a vinyl from other country the title says, for example, “… (Netherlands 12”) instead of “Dutch 12”, the same thing with “Europe 12″” instead of “European 12″”, etc..
I know it’s a minor detail, but I’m a little curious.
Hope not to bother you with my question.
Regards and thanks again.
No worries Peta I basically just go by how the record is listed on Discogs.
Thanks Paul 😉
Thanks Paul once again. Any chance of posting Beethoven ?
Probably not till after Christmas Omar.
Thanks for filling my request, Paul! 🙂
You’re welcome Goodguy 🙂
