“Our Darkness” is a 1984 new wave/synth-pop single by British poetess Anne Clark who was a pioneer in the use of spoken words. With music by British keyboardist David Harrow “Our Darkness” did chart in Germany where it peaked at #24 in March 1985. The song also recieved significant club play in the US however it failed to chart.

Awesome to see this here. Thank you Paul. I’ve always liked her work. Her album “Pressure Points” is well worth checking out, as John Foxx produced it and co-wrote some of the tracks (and you can tell).
“Hope Road” is another great single (1987). More recently she’s worked with Blank & Jones.
Great track. This has a lot to answer for.
Without this there (perhaps) wouldn’t have been a certain track by The KLF.

Hail to the one that brings this track back in focus. A jewel from the ”underground” scene from the mid-80’s. Unique song that deserves a rerun. Some mainstream clubs played the track as well. Very nice to see all the crowds mix on the floors, albeit with some display of wonder and intrigue on the faces of some popdiscolovers when looking at the depressed-but-still-enjoying-themselves crowds dressed in grey and black.
Man, she is one of my beloved writer-musicians. A humble ‘Thank you’ for this post.

I think this is a great follow-up to the Ministry posts. I kept wondering what would be next. Those Ministry posts are so precious Paul to me. I’ve even been playing the Chris Cox “Sex Slave” Edit of “Work For Love” that he did for Hot Tracks, which I proudly purchased legitimately from the old remix service. He did a tremendous job incorporating all the versions together for one excellent mix. Anyway, you have my gratitude and loyalty for bringing musical surprises to my ears everyday!!
